Hello to all that are already in the competition and anyone who would like to join
in can do so at any time during the competition, obviously the sooner the better for
points, but it is fun at any time.

The thread has been running in the HORSE RACING FORUM, but it has been suggested it
might be better if it transferred to the COMPETITIONS FORUM. I agree with that, so as
a starting point I think it best to copy the competition rules from the ATR site.

The competitioncan be entered at https://www.stable-stars.com/

Stable Stars Game – Start to finish

Competition period: Saturday, 14th November 2015 to Saturday 30th April 2016.
Points Scoring begins: First race on Saturday 14th November, 2015.
Entries Open – Monday, 2nd November 2015 (stables must be created between 12.01am Monday & 6pm Friday each week)
    Entries Close – 6pm on 22nd April, 2016.
Stables eligible to win points for Game Week 1 will need to have been set up by 11pm on Friday 13/11/15.
Once the final transfer window has closed on 22/04/2016, no more stables will be allowed into the Stable Stars Game.
    Setting up your Stable

Players must create their own team/stable name upon submitting an entry.
A stable will comprise of 10 horses, 2 Elite Selections and 8 Main Selections and one horse will have to be selected as the “Stable Star”.
Stables set up after Friday, 13th November, will not be eligible to win points in the first Game week.
Once the game has begun (14/11/15), 10-horse stables can only be created between 12.01am Monday and 6pm Friday each week.
Stables set up in a defined “Game Week” after 13th November will only be eligible to start winning points in the following “Game Week”. Each “Game Week” runs from 12am Saturday to 11.59pm Friday, e.g. a stable set up on Tuesday, 17th November, can only start winning points from the following Saturday, 21/11/15 (for Game Week 2 onwards).
    Stable Star
Players must nominate one horse to be their “Stable Star” each week. A horse must be selected as “stable star” upon submitting entry, which can be changed each week (if not changed, then that same horse remains the “Stable Star”).
Each player’s Stable Star scores double points for winning a race in that week.
    Calculating scores

Horses winning National Hunt races under the Rules of Racing (hurdles, chases and NH flat races) in Great Britain or Ireland will receive a number of points for each win. The number of points gained for each win is determined by the total amount of prize money the winning horse receives (as listed below):
    Non-Bonus Races
    Race value Points
Race worth £30,000/€40,000 or higher to winner 30
    Race worth £25,000 to £29,999 (€33,500 to €39,999) to winner 25
    Race worth £20,000 to £24,999 (€27,000 to €33,499) to winner 20
    Race worth £15,000 to £19,999 (€20,000 to €26,999) to winner 15
    Race worth £10,000 to £14,999 (€13,500 to €19,999) to winner 12
Race worth less than £10,000/€13,500 to winner 10
In the event of a dead-heat, points will be divided by the number of horses dead-heating with fractions rounded down. No points for a walkover. The official result on the day will be used for the calculation of points with any subsequent disqualifications disregarded.
    Stable Star
A player’s Stable Star scores double points for winning a race in that week.
So if a player’s Stable Star, for example, was to win two races worth less than £10K that week (10pt score for winning each race), that player would receive 40pts instead of 20pts for those 2 wins.
    Bonus Races
There will be a list of bonus races throughout the NH season, in which points can be earned for selecting the 1st, 2nd & 3rd. Players gain 50pts for selecting the winner of a bonus race, 25pts for second and 15pts for third. Click here to view the list of Bonus Races.
In the event of a dead-heat, points will be divided by the number of horses dead-heating with fractions rounded down. No points for a walkover. The official result on the day will be used for the calculation of points with any subsequent disqualifications disregarded.
    Prizes

There is a £10,000 cash top prize for the player who finishes the Stable Stars Game on the highest points total. There will be also be prizes for the 2nd to 10th places in the Overall Game, the top 3 points scorers in the months of December, January, February, March & April, and Spot Game prizes, details of which can be found on the Prizes Page – Click here to view all prizes on offer.
    Transfers

Players are permitted unlimited transfers between 02/11/15 and 11pm on 13/11/15.
From 11pm on 13/11/15, players are permitted one transfer from the Main Selections List each Game Week, transfer window is open from 12.01am Monday to 6pm on Friday (please note that a transfer only affects your stable for the following game week and does not take immediate effect).
From 11pm on 13/11/15, players are permitted one Elite transfer each calendar month. The month in which the transfer is deemed to have been made is determined by the date of the Saturday on which the horse is added to the stable. The transfer is deemed to be made in the month in which that specific Saturday falls.
e.g. if a player decides to make an Elite Transfer on Monday, 30th November, the Elite Selection will be transferred into his/her stable on Saturday, 5th December, so this will count as that player’s one Elite Transfer for December.
    Private leagues

All players can set up their own private league by clicking here, and can invite friends, family & colleagues to compete against them in the Stable Stars Game. All players can also join another players private league. To join a private league you will need the league administrator to send you the exact name of the league and the individual four digit code, you can then join via the Private League’s page on Stable Stables.
At The Races is not responsible for any prizes offered by individuals operating Private/Mini Leagues through stable-stars.com.
    Additional Horses

As the season progresses additional horses may be added to the game. You will be able to transfer these horses into your stable. Check the “Recently Added” tab on the transfer page, to see latest horses added to the Main Selections List.
    Abandoned meetings

In the event that any fixture involving a horse you have selected is cancelled or postponed to fall outside the Game time period (14/11/15 to 30/04/16) this selection will not score any points.

Anyone can enter the competition (except employees of ATR, SIS or Horses Mouth Ltd).

You can go it alone, but if you would like to join the league which was kindly set
up by JAMIEDB9007 then you will find it listed as ….

    League name – THERACINGFORUM

    League Pin – 2962

Anyone new entering will find there seems a lot to absorb at first, but having been at
it for a few weeks now I think we have the hang of it. Please ask if there is anything
    which doesn’t appear too clear.

I will try to bump this up at the appropriate times when transfers have to be in by.

Best of luck to all :good:

Just a reminder that changes for the coming week, (28/11 to 4/12)
have to be in by 6pm today.

Anyone who hasn’t taken the opportunity to change their ELITE HORSE
(one change per month), then today is their last chance to use their
November change. From what I can make out, none of the ELITE HORSES
are running in this week, but as you only have one change per month,
it would make sense to see whats running in the December window, and
if you want to change to two running in that period (unless both your
ELITE HORSES ARE RUNNING IN DECEMBER) you are going to have to change
one today and then the other in the December window.

Remember to select a horse from the MAIN HORSES section (unless all
8 of your MAIN HORSE selections are running this week, which I think
would be extremely unlikely) for this weekend or the coming week (till Friday).

Don’t forget to use your STABLE STAR for your best chance. Remember that
the Hennessy is the only BONUS RACE this week, so if you crack that one
and use your STABLE STAR you are in for big points.

I was asked to put up a reminder at the appropriate change times, so I
    hope this will suffice.

    Good luck to all :good:

Week 4 reminder to get your changes made before the 6PM deadline on Friday 4th Dec.
I made the mistake last week of mentioning the deadline on the Friday, not taking
account of those that might be at work or had other engagements during the day, and
didn’t get back in until after the deadline….sorry about that Jac.

So with a day to spare hopefully everyone will be able to have time to consider what
they want to shift about and be ready for next week’s competition.

Tomorrow is the first chance for everyone to change their ELITE HORSE for December,
and obviously their weekly MAIN HORSE.

The two bonus races this week are the TINGLE CREEK CHASE at Sandown on Saturday and
the JOHN DURKAN CHASE at Punchestown on Sunday. Put your STABLE STAR on the winner
of either of those and you’re 60 points better off :good:

I’ll try and remember to give a late reminder tomorrow for those with memories as good
    as mine

    Best of luck to all.

I’ll get this right eventually. I mentioned in my post above that if
you get the winner in either of the 2 bonus races and have your
STABLE STAR on it, then you would be 60 points better off.

I was of course talking absolute BILGE!!. The bonus race is worth
50 points for 1st, 25 of 2nd and 15 for 3rd, so if you are fortunate
enough to find the winner, and have your STABLE STAR on it, it would
be worth 100 points. Similarly 2nd and 3rd would be doubled up to
50 points and 30 points respectively.

Apologies for the misleading information, I’ll be getting my jotters
    at this rate

Reminder for transfers to be in by 9pm on Christmas Day for
    week 7.

There are 3 bonus races for this last week’s racing in 2015,
the KING GEORGE and the CHRISTMAS HURDLE at Kempton on
Boxing Day, and the WELSH GRAND NATIONAL at Chepstow the
    following day.

Best of luck, and a happy Christmas and prosperous New Year
to all on the forum and their families :good:

It seems it’s not looking too good for Chepstow going ahead on
Sunday. The transfers have to be in for 9pm today, I’ve been
hanging on to see if there is any indication that it may go ahead.

Does anyone have any idea if Chepstow Racecourse would run the
race during the week if the conditions improve, or if they might
make it on a weekend coming?

The problem is that the Welsh National is a bonus race, but if it
is not run before next Friday, it will fall into a different week
as far as the competition is concerned. I’ve read through the rules,
the only thing that is mentioned is that any race cancelled which
falls outside the racing competition dates (14/11 2015-30/4/2016)
    won’t count.

If anyone, like me, is still hanging on to find out what the likelihood
of the meeting going ahead is, it might be an option to miss the Welsh
National, and use their transfer for another race, unless you already have
one in your stable for the Welsh National. The risk there, is that if the
race is run midweek, there are big bonus points to be won.

It’s whether to risk picking one for the Welsh National, and hoping it goes
ahead before next Saturday, or trying to pick a winner in one of the races
over this Sat/Sun worth over £30,000. I’m leaning towards a bird in the hand
    at this point.

    Any ideas or opinions?

(I’ll post a copy of this in the Welsh National thread)

Reminder that transfers for week 9 have to be in for 9pm tomorrow
Friday 8/1/16. The Welsh National, if it goes ahead, is a bonus
race but a hard one to pick the winner.

Apologies for not putting up a reminder last week for week 8, I was
completely thrown out by New Year and such like stuff

    Best of luck

Reminder for transfers for week 10 to be in for 9pm tomorrow (Friday 15/01/16)

There are two bonus races this week, the CORAL IE HURDLE at Leopardstown on
Sunday, and the THYESTES CHASE at Gowran Park next Thursday.

Unfortunately for me, I don’t have any of the entries for either race presently
in my stable, so will have to decide which one I will plump for, and both are
going to be darned hard to pick the winner. Well done to anyone who already has
a horse from either in their stable, they can have a chance at a double bonus
if they knock it off. Anyone who already has a horse in each already in their
stable, well that’s just being too bloody smart B-)

None of the ELITE HORSES are in either, but as an early reminder, anyone who
hasn’t as yet used their ELITE HORSE transfer for this month, the IRISH CHAMPION
HURDLE at Leopardstown on 24/01/16 (week 11) is the last bonus race in January.
Getting that one right, with your STABLE STAR on, it is worth 100 points. Fans
of NICHOLAS CANYON and ARCTIC FIRE may take a different view, but I have to say
that FAUGHEEN, at 1/3, looks as near as you are going to get to points in the bank
    to me.

Best of luck to all :good:
