Watched the re-run on ATR of the 13.10 novice chase at Plumpton today. to see how my old friend De Plotting Shed got on. He has crossed swords with some big hitters in the past, and I always love a trier.
With two fences to go, he has just passed the 2/7 fav, Who Dares wins, when the camera inexplicably cuts away to the tailed-off third, Impulsive Leader, and follows that horse all the way to the line.
So I missed seeing my old friend holding on by a neck……Yes, SSR really messed up with their coverage. They did show the race on the Racing Review the following day, but chose not to show 75% of it due to the fatal fall of Not Never.
They were also showing off their latest toy – the drone camera – constantly switching to it during the races. This adds absolutely nothing to the coverage and was more use for someone wanting to break into adjoining properties than those of us wanting to watch a horse race.
....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.
