The similarity between the Supreme Novice and the original Gold Cup between Arkle and Mill House is apparent in the Supreme Novice. This tine it is the super horse Dunguib versus Get me out of here.

Arkle had already won a novice chase at the festival and Mill House had beaten Dreaper’s best chaser pointless in the Gold Cup before the two met in the Hennessy Gold Gup.

Would be nice to think this was the match of the decade but the only thing on the line here is Dunguib’s reputation and not many people are giving him losing a second thought..

A well know racing pundit actually thought it was funny when Jonjo said his best chance of a festival winner was Get Me Out Of Here but what Jonjo didn’t tell him was which race he intends running him in. :P The problem with Jonjo is he always seems to have one or two up his sleeve for the festival some he expects to win and others that just do

Can’t see him shirking the issue though and it does at least add a bit of interest to the race.

Get Me Out Of Here in any other year would be strongly fancied for this having won the Tote Trophy with ease but had Dunguib carried the same weight in the same race he would have been long odds on to win it.

Watching Dunguib strutting his stuff against weak opposition really makes if difficult to imagine anything beating him. Mind you we’ve all been fooled into thinking horses are really special when they are not.

There can be little doubt Get Me Out Of Here is a very good horse. He’s landed two massive gambles at Newbury for the yard and there could be a lot more in the locker.

However should he beat Dunguib I doubt if he will be hailed as the new Arkle. All it will mean is we have been fooled again into thinking we have seen a real special horse in Dunguib.

One things for sure if Get Me Out Of Here runs his race Dunguib will have to be everything he’s thought to be to beat him. If he does run his race and Dunguib beats him and the others in a canter he’ll be mega short for next years Champion Hurdle.

I can see it going either way but opposing Dunguib is not something I am prepared to do. Neither horse owes me one sheckle, thanks to them I am well in pocket so I doubt if I will back either on the day.

What I have done instead is backed Dunguib for next years Champion Hurdle at 6/1 a price we’ll never see again if he hacks up in the Supreme.

Sorry but there is no comparison between the two.

    This is akin to comparing:-
    Ali vs. Frazier
    with
    Darlington vs. Grimsby

    Different disciplines, different pedigrees.

….or Barcelona V Wick Academy…sorry Cormack, no disrespect intended

I very much doubt if JP will waste his time taking on the Festival banker

I see today where Willie Mullins is taking him on with his brilliant novice Blackstairmountain.Willie knows what it must take to beat Dunguib he has already thrown the best of the yard at him to no effect last year and this.Probably the owner insisted on it.Not unlike Aidan trying to knock over STS last year. Based on his last run TMOOH must have some sort of chance. How he recovered from the last last time out was amazing. This time Bunguib is the "unbeatable" one and TMOOH the quiet challenger.

Others have said it, but i have to agree. This is a wild comparison.

A fantastic prospect yes but certainly not Arkle vs Mill House.

    Were you being sarcastic?

Just some sort of analogy. Mill House was considered unbeatable when he met Arkle. So Dunguib. GMOOH is unbeaten and plays the role of challenger just as Arkle did to Mill House in the Cup.Perhaps a poor analogy I will admit.

Arkle had just emerged from novice company when he first met Mill House in the Hennessy, in which he finished third.

The novice hurdlers, Dunguib V Jonjo’s star novice is, as you say, a poor analogy.

Dunguib will hack up anyway.

I have absolutely piled on Getmeoutofhere at 8-1, he can’t get beat if the ground is no worse than good to soft.

I have never been so sure of a bet in my life, Dunguib will fall.

    Hi Senor Wilson;
Did you see GMOOH’s last hurdle in his last race? What makes you think he won’t fall?

I’ve heard of some wierd reasons for backing a horse but never heard of someone backing one hoping another will fall…..at least not one who has never fallen or even looked like falling before.

Probably a small bookie would give 8/1 Dunguib not completing then you wouldn’t have to worry whether GMOOH wins or not.

So you’re telling us if you owned Get Me Out Of Here you wouldn’t want to try?

Thankfully you don’t JP does and he will run trust me.

Sometimes JP’s Cheltenham winners run without JP having a bet. I believe it depends on the odds not the possibility of the horse winning.I myself would need at least 50/1 before I would bet against Dunguib and I don’t really know if that is realistic odds to beat that horse. If there is one horse in the race who can beat Dunguib then I believe there must be at least two!(If he can be beaten then he is not the horse I think he is.)

What would be the point? How much is second place in The supreme worth?
Answer : Not even as much as one of JPs decent bets.

Get Me Out Of Here looked a decent horse last time out, bar that very dodgy jump at the last but I doubt if he would be good enough to trouble Rite Of Passage or Pedlars Coss either, Isn’t he in a handicap at The Festival? That’s where I’d go with him .
