I was expecting Ballyburns to be dropped as I placed a bet on him at 11/2 EW last week (NRNB) terms and only got 2 places. The was 9 declared at the time. Thought the intended target was the Brown Advisory Novice Chase, but was beginning to have doubts. Got my money back early on today, as expected.
You've got to accentuate the positive.
Eliminate the negative.
Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.March 9, 2025 at 15:06 #1722285Worst Arkle field I’ve ever seen. Seriously we’ve got the Triumph winner and a horse who got beat in the County Hurdle and has only come over fences because he’d reached his ceiling over hurdles.
I suspect making the Turners or whatever it is now a handicap has unintended consequences in terms of field size for this and the Brown Advisory going forwards in that its easier to get a horse just below the top level handicapped win a handicap (Firefox for example) than to go for a Grade 1.
March 9, 2025 at 15:13 #1722288You’re probably right TTM. I think it’s max field of 7 for the BANC now, four of them trained by Mullins and no GB runners.
March 10, 2025 at 10:49 #1722357Just for interest, i’ve chucked
L’Eau Du Sud in a double with KDB; only a small wager.Strangely to some (i guess) no real conviction in the bet, but wanted a small ‘play’ in this race.
March 10, 2025 at 11:00 #1722360There’s a knock on effect as well for the open 2m division next season because if Majborough is the best of these this year who owns him? Oh yeah that JP fella who also owns Jonbon. One of them is probably going up in trip next year. Hopefully for the divisions sake Gino gets back in one piece. Even then Henderson and De Boinville have some tricky choices to make potentially.
March 10, 2025 at 11:20 #1722363My guess is that Majborough goes up in trip next year out of the two if Jonbon holds his form in the UK next season. Would be strange if the Champion Chase title holder didn’t go back to try to defend his crown. If Jonbon doesn’t win the Champion Chase this year ignore the above.
March 10, 2025 at 12:00 #1722367If Fact To File never stays a strong 3 miles he’s likely to be the JP Ryanair horse. Can’t see any point in running two of JP’s in the Ryanair. So hopefully Maj will take on Jon next year. That said, if backing either of the two ante-post for next year’s Champion, not only could you lose your money if that one gets injured, but also if Fact To file does (with something switching to the Ryainair).
However, the Arkle is no penalty kick.
Come on Du Sud!
Value Is EverythingMarch 10, 2025 at 15:17 #1722389A shame about Sir Gino as it would have been a good race with him in it
Can’t see past the favBlackbeard to conquer the World
March 10, 2025 at 16:40 #1722405Majborough is 5, Jonbon is 9.
Succession planning?
Or they could try to one-up Kauto Star with Maj if he is all that- I’ll see your Tingle Creek the season before the Gold Cup and raise you a QMCC?
Anyway, lots of water to go under the bridge before then.March 10, 2025 at 16:48 #1722406Skelton surely will smash his out and try and take the favourite out of his comfort zone , I’m still not convinced the favs a great jumper , he is the best horse but Skelton one chance is to get him make a mistake
March 10, 2025 at 17:47 #1722424A rather weak Arkle and almost any of the five could win it. Jango Baie is decent enough for me at 15/2 EW.
March 11, 2025 at 10:08 #1722548Jango Baie here too at 17-2
March 11, 2025 at 12:32 #1722592L’Eau Du Sud 5-1
The more I know the less I understand.
March 11, 2025 at 13:29 #1722618I cannot see anything beating Majborough, but for a little interest, I’ll go Touch Me Not 18-1 ew
March 11, 2025 at 13:32 #1722619I’m on Majborough antepost at 13/2 in a Double with Constitution Hill at 7/2.
March 11, 2025 at 14:06 #1722627Bonkers race. Good entertainment but nothing there to convince me I was wrong pre-race about the quality of the field.
March 11, 2025 at 14:06 #1722628Yesssss and the FC as well.
