    I noticed today that a Thomas Greatorex had finished second in the ITV 7 with five winners and two second !!

    Not exactly a common name and are jockeys allowed to enter things like this?

    Interested to hear you guys opinions ……..

    Spelt differently raymo61, so not the same person but would definitely be a no go. Of course though trainers would be allowed, as they can bet. Shame on the BHA for allowing that contradiction :negative:

    as in “allowed to enter” by ITV:

    ======
    “The ITV7 competition (“Competition”), including as may be featured in the ITV Racing programme (the “Programme”), is open to UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man residents aged 18 years or over only, excluding employees of the Promoter, their immediate families, and anyone else professionally connected with the Competition.”

    ..For Broadcast Competitions the Promoter is both ITV Consumer Limited of The London Television Centre, Upper Ground, London SE1 9LT and Hestview Limited of 2 Wellington Place, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS1 4AP (trading as Sky Games) jointly.

    For Non-Broadcast Competitions the Promoter is Hestview Limited only. ITV is not responsible in any way for the promotion or administration of the Competition, the fulfilment of any prizes, or the processing of any personal data, in each case in relation to Non-Broadcast Competitions.

    Apple Inc. is no way linked or associated with the Competition.
    =====

    from this, seems imo ITV would be OK with a jockey entering so long as unconnected with ITV/ SkyBet and not riding in any of the races covered thus “not professionally conected with the Competition”.
    https://itv7.itv.com/terms

    [btw, also trainers, their staff, etc of runners in the ITV7 races would on this expansive reading of the term be at one remove “professionally connected with the Competition” by reason of being professionally connected with the races involved in the Competition, as too eg the starter, the vehicles following the race, the stewards, even the valets of the jockeys riding ]

    ==========================

    as in “allowed to enter” by BHA, imo:

    – there is no “bet” involved in entering the Competition within the terms of the General Manual (A) Part 4,
    http://rules.britishhorseracing.com/Orders-and-rules%26staticID=126200%26depth=3?zoom_highlight=betting

    so regarding those prohibitions it would be a question of Rule 30.1 and “must not act in any manner which the Authority considers to be prejudicial to the integrity, proper conduct or good reputation of horseracing in Great Britain.”
    http://rules.britishhorseracing.com/Orders-and-rules&staticID=126195&depth=3

    – in the Rider Manual (D), the ITV7 would seem not to be particularly within Rules 53 and following:
    http://rules.britishhorseracing.com/Orders-and-rules%26staticID=126110%26depth=3?zoom_highlight=betting

    for me, question seems to be whether BHA “considers” jockeys entering the ITV7 “to be prejudicial to the integrity, proper conduct or good reputation of horseracing in Great Britain.”

    anyone asked the BHA ?
