He was matched at around 60-1 and 70-1 on Betfair and was otherwise generally at 33-1 to 50-1 available. That still is his true price. Anything around 4-1 or 5-1 is just something for mugs….

The fact that he’s won it before might go against him slightly.
Plus I think he’s more of a shoo in for the Lifetime Achievement Award. If anyone’s had a lifetime of achievement, it’s AP.

In an interview with Alan Lee for The Times, AP was asked about this.

He replied, "Retirement is not an achievement….a lot of people are more worthy now. I shouldn’t even be getting a mention".

Typical AP modesty there. Although I do agree with him regarding SPOTY as he will only be riding for approx. a quarter of the year. He would have to have a stonking festival, ride the GN winner and end up with 300 winners to win it in my eyes, unless all other contenders underachieve in the year. It’s a different matter regarding the Lifetime Achievement award. Which reminds me when a mate of mine commented when he won in 2010 that McCoy did not deserve it as the horse did all the work and he just sat on the thing. This from a Man Utd fan who applauded Alex Ferguson’s LAA for sitting on the bench for God knows how many years

Didn’t the BBC change the format the year

    Ryan Giggs

won it, they select who they want on the list and then let the public vote.

As the BBC have no interest in horse racing any more, I very much doubt if AP will make the finals list

Yes, good points. Must be a certainty for the LA award if he’s listed in that.

Cut again into 3-1 generally this AM, 7-2 with VC.

Wonder if someone knows he’s at least going to be listed in the 10?

I see micky mouse firm Corals are taking no chances – AP 3/1 but winning sport horse racing only 5/2

Must be to counteract any possible late run on Ryan if he happens to win the Derby, Arc, National etc.

Think you’re reading too much into it betlarge, who is/or is likely to have been backed for the award in the last few days? There is only one contender.

People would have backed him at any price, lay as much as you can at the lowest price you can is the motto.

I’ll pay good money to see Ryan Moore on Teaforthree at Aintree. That would be a speed culture shock after The Grey Gatsby. :D

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
