Has anyone else noted how well Lewes trainer Jim Best has been doing.
Jim and his brother Tom are both very astute and do very well with moderate horses.
Another winner yesterday at Fakenham and another second well backed fom 8s in the last.
check out http://www.jimandtombestracing.co.ukanother winner is expected later this week
November 21, 2007 at 17:27 #126155Yep. I noticed his claiming of Forzacurity after a Newton Abbot claiming hurdle in August (http://www.neigh.co.uk/newtowna060807.htm – called him John by mistake, being a div), and thought the gelding would be worth keeping an eye on in lowly company hereafter. Got fingers burnt first time out after that, but got compensated at 7-1 at Fakenham second time round!
I’m also very keen to see whether Lady Pilot reappears at Huntingdon this coming weekend. Having won all three of her Polytrack handicaps for Best earlier in the year, she looked certain to add a hurdle to her tally at the same track last time out before capsizing late on. I imagine this will be a stronger contest, but I’d remain optimistic about her being able to make amends all the same.

November 22, 2007 at 08:40 #126209Yes your correct Jeremy
3 wins from 3 runs for Lady Pilot on the flat since joining Jim Best and incidentally well backed every time and so unlucky the other week when falling at the last with the race at its mercy at HuntingdonHe has also worked the oracle with Three Ships during the last week.
Jim claimed this for a couple of grand from the Julie Feilden yard and she had failed to get it to win in 18 months.
Always going well the other day and again well backed.
Jim and Tom had to stretch to £6,000 gns to retain it and this is another to follow.
Another to follow
November 22, 2007 at 09:15 #126216Sweetening up Three Ships again was half the battle won there, Seagull. He was a pretty reasonable performer for Mrs Feilden 18 months or more ago but seemed to be hating every minute of it in 2007, even dogging it in a five-runner Plumpton claimer in which his only realistic opponent broke down irreporably after one flight.
Confidence and positive mental attitude restored, I very much expect some more gains from him in the short term.

November 22, 2007 at 09:24 #126218Mariday certainly didn’t win the races forecast for him when Pipey Jnr claimed his from the yard did he?
November 22, 2007 at 11:29 #126233Lady Pilot is notoriously difficult to win with – glad that he’s found the key to her as I’ve been following her since she had the box next to our fillies down at Dr Naylors. Certainty if she turns up in a similar grade to her last run.

A mistake then on Pipes behalf by paying £6,000 gns. When Three Ships won last week Mariday was well back in the field.
November 22, 2007 at 14:47 #126272That was indeed the point I was making Seagull.
November 23, 2007 at 10:51 #126383another one today having its first run since leaving the Price yard.
Money again down into 4.3 betfair
Seabird
did u get the messageNovember 23, 2007 at 11:40 #126391I did indeed, sir, thank you.

November 23, 2007 at 12:18 #126403I’d noted this ability of Jim Best as well Seagull.
Thanks for pointing this one out today, should be a very interesting runner.
November 23, 2007 at 14:55 #126426Very interesting.
Is there somewhere I can get money on for it to win today, but never again?November 23, 2007 at 16:00 #126439Yes a shrewd lot. Looks like they collected again.
November 23, 2007 at 22:00 #126490In fairness, the saddle slipped (according to RP)

LOL! (after drifting out to around 8-1 on the off).
Can I take evens that topweight The Wooden Spoon is a non-runner in the 3.15 at Plumpton tomorrow leaving the way clear for lower weighted stablemate Dundridge Native to hack up on his debut for Best?
In a double with The Wooden Spoon to win next time out (see Forzacurity/Three Ships).
November 25, 2007 at 08:53 #126839Wotchalike was actually in the lead when the saddle slipped jumping the 2nd.
The fact that The Trading Post item in the Racing Post napped Wotchalike would have caused the horse to shorten upFormer jump jockey Declan Murphy was on course lumping on big time on Mickmacmagoole and it looked like connections were after recouping Warwick losses.

Well as predicted The Wooden Spoon is a NR
