Andrew Mount has a book out called Trend Horses Form Breakers for Jumps 2008/2009. He also does an update called One Jump Ahead. Has anyone had either of these books and if so have they an opinion about them? Any help would be appreciated.

One Jump Ahead is a Mark Howard book – I don’t find it particularly illuminating myself.
November 1, 2008 at 18:37 #187411Formbreakers basically takes a sample of horses and breaks down their form to identify their ideal conditions. i.e. Horse has run 28 times and won 6 races and been placed 4 times. On closer inspection, it might identify that 5 of those wins were at 6f, 4 of them on fast ground, and all of them of right handed tracks. i.e. back this horse over 6f on fast ground on a right handed track.
I don’t buy the book but have plenty of time for the methodology behind it.
November 1, 2008 at 22:44 #187472As Grasshopper says, Mounty is a pretty sharp cookie and when I can keep him off the bottle and stop him chasing exotic dancers from former soviet republics, one of the best form book students I know. His books are excellent and, as well as his column in Raceform Update (he tipped up Roll Along for Ascot’s big chase this week) he writes a regular piece for GG.com. I am, of course, not allowed to mention his excellent tipping service.
I hope that this shameless brown nosing will once again qualify me for a free copy of his latest tome.

Or failing that, a seat on his table at the luxurious HWPA dinner!

November 4, 2008 at 02:04 #187821I’d like to second the notion that Andrew Mount’s Trend Horses book is excellent and a vital tool for any punter!

November 6, 2008 at 01:42 #188210Only just though – I ended up in the casino after our post-Exeter session in the Royal Exchange – got in at 2am then actually turned up for the gym this morning. Sweating buckets before I got there, not a pretty site.

Hope the sex scenes in this years offering are up to your usual standard
