Cheers GM, yeah fire away, not bothered at all about setting next question
June 19, 2017 at 19:15 #1304932Okay, so who was the first ever horse to be remounted in a National?
Or, try this one. What links these horses: Celtic Abbey, The Last Fling, Greenhill Raffles, Don’t Light Up, The Songwriter?
June 19, 2017 at 19:26 #1304935Debut runners for Ladies who have trained the winner?
June 19, 2017 at 20:39 #1304956Correct again! Venetia had two her debut year.
Who was the last 15yo to run in the race?
June 19, 2017 at 20:45 #1304959Hawker?
June 19, 2017 at 22:54 #1304986Wow, that’s a good try but two more after. Cryptical the very next year in 1930 and one a bit later!
June 20, 2017 at 00:37 #1305002Cheers GM, I had Hawker in my head, couldn’t have even told you the decade, but was worth a pop. I’ll stick to late 70’s onwards
June 23, 2017 at 09:23 #1305803A clue: the last 15yo to run in the GN had twice been placed in the race.
June 23, 2017 at 23:48 #1306058Wikipedia says…MacMoffat in 1937. One of 57 runners- I knew they used to allow more than 40 but didn’t realise that’s not even close to the max ever
June 24, 2017 at 00:08 #1306061Which is the odd one out:
Vautour, Corbiere, L’Escargot or Flakey Dove?June 24, 2017 at 07:07 #1306092Flakey Dove never went chasing.

Yes, well done. Probably a typo, it was in 1947. MacMoffat fell, as far as I can discern somewhere down the canal side on the first circuit. That was the second biggest field ever behind the 66 in 1929. The last field of over 40 was 42 in 1977.
June 24, 2017 at 16:09 #1306302True, kingb, but not the answer I was looking for. The clue is in the names. Wikipedia is your friend.
June 25, 2017 at 13:18 #1306504L’Escargot, being a snail and the rest birds?
June 25, 2017 at 14:16 #1306512Yep
June 25, 2017 at 14:42 #1306518Apart from Foinavon which other horse ran in at least one Grand National in which a fence carried its name?
