I think it was Susan (?) Morris, definitely Morris though. Not 100% that she was the first, though she would have been my guess. Just, but only just lol, before my time though.
December 31, 2016 at 18:11 #1279547Well done both of you, Susan Morris is the correct answer. As you actually named her I guess it’s over to you VTC.
December 31, 2016 at 18:20 #1279549It’s okay GM, I don’t really like setting the questions, and I’m happy for OA to set the next one if he’s happy with that.
January 1, 2017 at 12:35 #1279641Thanks VtC. I’m not very good at this and I don’t think this will last long, but let’s have a go.
What links Bob Dylan to Nijinsky’s Derby?
January 1, 2017 at 17:48 #1279729Hi OA, a horse ran in that Derby called Tambourine Man!
Ok, here’s the next one:
Name the last horse to be ridden to Grand National victory by his trainer.

Easy one .
Which former Champion Hurdle winner started second favourite for the Cheltenham Gold Cup a few years later and was fatally injured during the race ?

January 2, 2017 at 10:48 #1279820Bula?
No , Bula was injured in the Queen Mother Champion Chase but had to be put down months later due to the injury sustained .

I think the beast in question would be Lanzarote.
Should that answer prove to be correct then michael’s question as above can stand in lieu of one of my own.
January 2, 2017 at 12:53 #1279865Spot on , Seasider . Well done .
Lanzarote , trained by Bula’s trainer , Fred Winter , and ridden by John Francome , was indeed the horse in question who fell and injured himself during the 1977 Cheltenham Gold Cup .

Who am I? An Irish emigrant and amateur rider I trained many winners on the continent as well as two winners of each the Grand National, Champion Chase and Grand Sefton.

This one seems to have stumped everyone so some additional clues:
I trained at Findon and one of my Grand National winners won only two races in his entire life.
January 4, 2017 at 16:02 #1280217Ryan Price?
January 4, 2017 at 16:08 #1280218Hi Crepello, no – Ryan Price trained only Kilmore to win the National – but you are very warm: same premises but earlier!
