The hairstyle of the guy holding the horse looks like it might be an Elvis-type quiff that has flopped over his forehead following a sudden gust of wind.
Hairstyles of this type were popular amongst young men in the late 1950s and the early 1960s, and I’m wondering if I’m in the right area, time-wise, for both man and horse.
June 20, 2016 at 22:18 #1252656Spot on Seasider, this horse raced late 1950s to early 1960s.

June 21, 2016 at 22:05 #1252786Ooh wait wait is it Sovereign Path? I thought he was born in the forties/fifties but I was confusing him with his sire Grey Sovereign.
June 21, 2016 at 22:13 #1252788Yes well done St Nicholas Abbey, this is Sovereign Path. A big winner in 1959-60 and a successful stallion. He was by Grey Sovereign out of Mountain Path by Bobsleigh. He won the Lockinge Stakes and the Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
Thought someone might have recognised Ron Mason’s stables.June 21, 2016 at 22:42 #1252794In all honesty I’ve never seen a photo of him before – nice looking horse!
June 24, 2016 at 17:44 #1252980June 25, 2016 at 15:52 #1253152Okay, nice easy one.
What links Seabiscuit with an English Classic winner from the 1960s?
June 25, 2016 at 17:13 #1253157Same name sire – Hard Tack. The English Classic winner is Right Tack (Hard Tack x Polly Macaw). RT won the English & Irish 2000, plus the SJP – and was the sire of Mofida.
June 25, 2016 at 22:06 #1253197Spot on @Titus Oates. :)
June 26, 2016 at 11:47 #1253270Ooooh, asking these is harder than answering them!
Try this: where and when did Forpadydeplasterer beat Imperial Commander?
June 26, 2016 at 17:23 #1253306Aww, I’m useless at NH as I don’t follow it; I’ll await the better informed. :)

June 29, 2016 at 13:22 #1253479I find it much easier to answer than to ask!
What do the Fighting Fifth hurdle at Newcastle, the Albert Bartlett (Spa) novices’ hurdle at Cheltenham and the Future Champions Finale juvenile hurdle at Chepstow have in common, as of the end of the 2015/6 NH season?
