Apparently the Paris tracks as well as those in the eastern part of the country will be closed again.

PLAN A HAS NOT WORKED.
THE FRENCH RACING AUTHORITIES HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THERE CAN BE NO RACING AROUND THE GREATER PARIS AREA.
THEY PLAN TO RUN THESE RACES ELSEWHERE

May 20, 2020 at 09:37 #1488666I suppose Chantilly will be on stand by to stage the Poulains and the Pouliches.
May 20, 2020 at 10:03 #1488670Also Deauville as an option.
No racing has been lost. Just shows you. I would say there’s no hope that would’ve happened in IRE/ENG.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!May 20, 2020 at 13:12 #1488676Deauville is an excellent option for the Classics and other races as well. They also jumped in when Longchamp was redeveloped some 3-4 years ago.
It’s nice to have such luxury. As for the British/Irish Classics, I wouldn’t mind if they’d be run at other places than Newmarket/Curragh. It is not about the location, it’s more about the competition and the performance offered by the equine athletes. But generally speaking, I think it is quite worrying that so many major events have been cancelled for good this year. All the tennis and golf tournaments not being played at the moment, makes you wonder how long the worldwide lockdown will continue.
May 20, 2020 at 18:28 #1488687I was very surprised when i saw the news from France, what price Royal Ascot goes ahead as normal in mid June?
All comers, all ground, all beaten
May 22, 2020 at 13:27 #1488792The big issue for the French authorities is what to do with the French Gold Cup on June 7th. A Grade 1 chase in France has never been run outside Auteuil and there isn’t a obvious second track to go to. The lockdown in Paris is due to be reviewed on June 2nd I think so they may get lucky and it’s lifted. Pau apparently is a back-up plan but it’s a long way from Paris and some trainers aren’t for it, plus Pau normally never has jump racing this time of year.
