“Head out into the Black Country” perhaps?

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"January 20, 2024 at 20:26 #1677993Nearly 74 and still going to Wolverhampton on a Saturday night in January. Full marks for his enthusiasm and commitment.
January 20, 2024 at 20:28 #1677994Ian I didn’t know you possessed a sound button. Or have you got the subtitles on?
January 20, 2024 at 21:17 #1677999I must admit it took me a while to locate said volume button on my remote and remind myself how it works!
Derek in top form tonight – it was like a welcome blast from the past!

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"March 22, 2024 at 06:52 #1687722I dare say the source and the presenter will give some people a fit of the vapours but Derek Thompson was interviewed by Nigel Farage on GB News last night.
For anyone interested, the interview starts just over 46 minutes in. I thought Derek came across rather well.
March 22, 2024 at 08:27 #1687724Thommo seems a thoroughly decent person.
The more I know the less I understand.
May 31, 2024 at 18:40 #1696300Another PHOTO and “One For The Judge” from Derek in the first at Catterick. The winner won by a neck.
June 4, 2024 at 20:51 #1696988Watching the recording of the Jersey Guineas at Les Landes I note that Thommo is doing racecourse commentary duty there.
July 23, 2024 at 18:46 #17025126.40 at Wolverhampton. Derek advises us in mid-commentary that favourite Pfingstberg is “named after a big hill in Germany”.
July 23, 2024 at 19:11 #1702515…and he’s not wrong
December 25, 2024 at 19:15 #1716291All good things come to an end:
December 25, 2024 at 20:05 #1716293Well, 75 is not a bad age to call it quits. Hope he gets a proper farewell meeting.
December 26, 2024 at 16:54 #1716424He’s still going to be presenting, just not doing the race commentary any more.
Worked with him a few times at the BBC years ago.
December 26, 2024 at 18:19 #1716438Best news of the year, just one more year to suffer.
....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.
January 6, 2025 at 16:44 #1717636The finish of the bumper at Ayr today (3.45) is another masterclass in staggering incompetence from the soon to be retired Derek. Does December count as soon??
January 6, 2025 at 17:47 #1717643Didn’t notice him for about four furlongs…..
January 6, 2025 at 20:01 #1717649Seriously, that was poor, really poor. How bad do you have to be to get sacked? Silly question I know, it should have happened years ago.
Presumably he gets all his expenses for the day paid.
As he exclusively commentates from the monitor, couldn’t he work from home?
