Bankruptcy notices can be issued, and judgements passed, when the defendant isn’t even in the country, Clive, so your continued assertion that Loughran was fully aware of any and all impending action simply doesn’t hold true.
A judgement can be passed on a claim. Thats a totally different matter
A notice is usually served in person by a bailiff
But iits possible that he was caught unawares by the whole action and by a happy coincidence just happened to be in the very court on the very same day that the hearing was scheduled. Remarkable
February 15, 2008 at 14:51 #143525When a bankruptcy petition is filed judgement comes subsequently in the form of a bankruptcy order and, as I said before, this can be done without you even being in the country. So, when the petition was passed to the High Court, it is entirely possible that Loughran remained unaware of the situation.
February 16, 2008 at 20:34 #143973A lot of sneering jokes from Derek McGovern today in the Mirror. Some history there?
Still, any enemy of that worm Mcgovern is a friend of mine
Best of luck Angus
February 16, 2008 at 21:14 #143987I was hopping ‘twixt ATR and RUK’s coverage today so didn’t have chance to check, but was Mr Loughran at work at Ascot for Auntie Beeb? If so, were there any demonstrable on-camera signs of him getting a hard time from the crowd? One would hope not.

February 17, 2008 at 15:11 #144160Didn’t see any BBC coverage so correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t they stand him down from his duties this weekend. I certainly read that in the Racing Post.

Yes they did DJ, Rishi Persad took on the market commentary. It hurts too much to go into any detail.
February 17, 2008 at 18:33 #144211[quote="Kwai Chang CainePaul, you are very obviously a fan of the journalistic profession.
I am a "fan" of the role the press play in wjat is supposed to be a free society.
There are some very good, very brave journalists who take great risks to expose wrongdoings and malpractice. Equally there are also very bad journalists who abuse their role and damage the reputation of the press. Most are somewhere between the two extremes.
In other words journalism is like any other profression with a mix of ability and talent.
What rattled my cage was your apparent sweeping generalisation in implying that journalism as a profession was generally bad.
February 19, 2008 at 13:35 #144679Aidan O’Brien looks like Harry Potter.
Agreed, but not as much as Tony Dobbin does (imagine him with suitable specs)

Rishi’s a consistent type, isn’t he?
