Kentdougal – Please try and keep up with events. The biggest sporting occasion in the world called the Olympics took place last summer in Beijing. GB finished an excellent 4th in the medals table and the only countries ahead of us were the mighty China and USA along with Russia so it’s very insulting to the efforts and dedication of all the GB olympians for you to say we are a nation of no hope losers ( please do not be a snob and say those olympic sports do not matter ). The world F1 champon is british and so is the snooker world champion and this country has done well in other sports in the last decade so it’s ridiculous to say that GB are losers in my opinion.
Yes I have Sky Sports and I have watched Murray play recently and his behaviour in the final against Nadal was shameful. His previous outbursts have been anything but minor. I’ve previously said in my posts that I think Murray is talented and plays entertaining tennis and should win a grand slam so I’m not disagreeing with your opinions about his ability as a tennis player. Just because I do not like his character does not mean that I cannot appreciate his style of playing the game.
You started this thread by expressing your surprise regarding why he is not getting credit for his achievements on the tennis court. I’ve given you the answer and so have some other posters who have expressed the reasons regarding why he is so unpopular.
I and other genuine tennis fans will not support a player we do not like or respect. If we did then it would mean we are being two faced and insincere. Can you really not understand this !!
If you want to support Murray then that it your decision and your choice. It is not for me to tell you what to do so please do not be a control freak and say that I and others must support Murray even if we do not like him.
Do not say I do not have a clue about tennis because I will not support Murray. It is none of your business who I support in tennis or any other sports so try and be broad minded and respectful about other people’s opinions and decisions.

I’d be intrigued to learn just how holding the opinion that one’s view isn’t to be dismissed simply because one "hasn’t played the game" is symptomatic of me coming from a nation of losers?
I can’t help but feel that it’s merely a line peddled out by brain-dead cretins to stand up for Murray blindly. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
April 13, 2009 at 15:24 #221625I suspect that if Tim Henman had possessed a similar on court temperament to Murray, then his predominately middle class English support wouldn’t have given two hoots otherwise.
I still believe that Murray’s "Scottishness" has already damned him in some people’s eyes – irrespective of his talent and tantrums.
I recall a lowly Scottish ranked player at Wimbledon a few years ago who was particpating against a non "Brit" and was sill was roundly booed by Henman’s supporters for simply being ( according to the commentator) Scottish. They were supporting his opponent instead.

Just to bring things full circle, said gentleman is now Andy Murray’s tactitional advisor.

Best we don’t mention Greg Rusedski.
