December 11, 2007 at 01:44 #129927First FoF, I am not having a go at anyone – pleas accept my apologies if you think this is the case, because believe me it isn’t.
Secondly, if you think I’ve said absolutely nothing constructive about anything, then again I offer my apologies. I’ve actually said quite a lot about certain subjects, including about Denman. I’ve even replied to some of your posts and posed some valid questions, that you have failed to reply to. So maybe it’s you not reading what I say, rather than me not having anything constructive to say about anything.
I also won’t be saying "I am Mike and I love Denman" because I don’t love Denman – I have never said I do, but I have said on a few ocassions that I was very impressed with his performance last time out – maybe you missed that.
For the record, I’m a massive Kauto Star fan, who wouldn’t be – and at this stage, he is still the one I would want to be on in the Gold Cup. So actually we share the same opinions – does that mean your brain isn’t developed either?

All joking aside, I apologise if you think I’m criticising you because that’s not the case. I just have a completely different opinion to you regarding peoples reactions to Denmans performance. You have stated many times now that you think people have over reacted, I on the other hand, don’t think they have.
All the best,
Mike
It’s cool Mike sometimes I have a completely different opinion than me as well. It’s getting me to admit it that’s the difficult part

I have a lot of poppy riding on Kauto in both the King George and the Gold Cup (wins the former I’ll still be in slightly front thankfully) and I wish Denman would go somewhere else and play.
He will do one of 2 things IMO. Either he will win the Gold Cup by 10-20 lengths or he will finish 3rd or 4th. I don’t think there is an in between with him. There is no way of telling at this time how good he really is. To me he looked every bit like the new "Arkle" in the Hennessy and it was a good a performance I have seen from a young horse in years. I was as carried away as anyone but I was too busy admiring Denman to notice that none of the better horses in the race had run anything like their best form. When I did it brought me back down to earth……..I just think some people are still on cloud nine.
I also think the bookies are taking a right stretch out of the punters and there hasn’t be a serious coin for the horse. He’ll be a much bigger price on Gold Cup day as their commitment on Kauto is already huge.
December 11, 2007 at 11:48 #129976Yes I agree FoF regarding the bookies reaction.
Denman is still rated below KS officially, and he hasn’t achieved anything near to that of what KS has done either – so how he can be shorter in the betting may seem surprising.
But on the other hand, you have to take into account Denman’s potential, and this, along with his last performance, is why the bookies have put him in so short for the Gold Cup. They couldn’t exactly leave Denman at 5/1 or above as the avalanche of cash would have knocked them over. So for them, it was easier to slash him to a short priced fav, and if anyone wants to back him at those odd, the bookies will gladly take their cash.
You know what the bookies are like mate, they give absolutely nothing away 99% of the time.
The Gold Cup picture will be a lot clearer after the Christmas period – and then the Denman/Kauto Star debate can get into full swing
