I expect victory from my 1000 Guineas hope
My Titania
tomorrow, nothing flashy as it’s not ‘her way’. She faces stiff competition from the Weld horse, but a runner-up spot would do nothing to put me off her. All this filly’s best times are ahead of her, and her return in the spring is when we’ll see a proper ‘

September 28, 2013 at 16:21 #452790I don’t do this very often and it’s highly likely I’ve got carried away by a big price here. I’ve heard good things of this
Vautour
joining the Willie Mullins yard this year, although admittedly never having seen him run I’m going in blind on this one.
Robin Des Champs
horses often grow with age, but the 66/1 I was offered by Laddies for this French import to win the Neptune had me diving towards to the phone. They went 100/1 about him for the Supreme as well, but I left that alone as his profile reads as a more likely Neptune type. I’m happy to take the chance on him based on the buzz he’s created.

Neptune Novice Hurdle, £25e/w@66/1 with Ladbrokes(1/4 first 3)

September 28, 2013 at 16:31 #452791You must have heard good things indeed Boz
Personally from what I’ve seen I reckon one or both of Faugheen and Turnandgo will be Neptune contenders for Mullins. And Briar Hill could also go the two and a half mile route. No wonder he plans on sending more over to England

Akorakor has been moved to Mouse Morris I hear, he’d be another who could be Cheltenha material.
Negative whispers about Our Conor on twitter lately by the way, hope there’s no truth in them.

Well it’s a punt Tommy, admittedly a bit of a stab in the dark but at 66/1 I’m more than happy to take the chance as it’s not money I’m missing. I no you’re keen on this
Faugheen
but in my personal opinion the only name you’ve mentioned there that will be troubling the places at the festival will be
Briar Hill
, and despite being built to stay I can see him following the same path as
Champagne Fever
last year.
What whispers are these then Tommy regarding
Our Conor
? Assuming it’s not reports of ill health or anything of that nature and they’re merely of poor form then I for one hope they are true
September 28, 2013 at 17:19 #452798So apparently
Vautour
is French for vulture. How many ‘stalking his prey’ puns do you think I can squeeze in between now and March then?

The rumours on twitter state that he hasn’t come back in the sae horse at all and Hughes doesn’t know why. Hopefully they’re not true as a 100% Our Conor will add a lot of intrigue to the 2 mile division in Ireland at Christmas.
If Vautour means vulture then I’m afraid you’ll be left picking up scraps at the Festival Boz

Good luck with your 66/1 though, could look an inspired bet in a few months.
September 29, 2013 at 11:20 #452909Cheers Tommy, one can but hope
It’s a bit speculative admittedly but in the long run it’s a bit of fun that could potentially pay off. Pitted against my other festival ante-post punts it’s placed more with hope than expectation, but if you don’t buy the ticket…………….September 29, 2013 at 12:51 #452914Time to play once again. This batch of 2 year old fillies are highly underwhelming. One or two seem over precocious, over raced and very unlikely to bring their juvenile form forward to the classics next year. The French pair also hardly appear to be superstars and I’ll take their victories in the last couple of days with a pinch of salt. Nothing from Ballydoyle has caught my eye either, although ol’ Gordy seems awful keen on this
Tapestry
she’s no classic winner for me. She’ll presumably train on but I’m not having her for Newmarket at all. Now then, the early progeny of a certain
Sea The Stars
have shown one or two similarities to the great one himself, they’re certainly not star 2 year olds and he wasn’t that! One who really has caught my eye is this
My Titania
, she really does share plenty of her sire’s finer qualities and will follow right in his footsteps by coming back a top class 3 year old and storming to victory up the Rowley Mile on May 4th. The best two 3 year old fillies next year will come from Ireland, mark my words, but John Oxx trains the Guineas winner

My Titania
1000 Guineas, £50e/w@25/1 with Bet365(1/4 first 3)
I hope My Titania is lucky for you Boz. I didn’t see her last run but did watch her debut and thought she looked ready made to win next time given the breeding and her trainer’s profile. I would be a little worried about her at shortish odds today though. Her last win is hard to evaluate yet and Tarfasha was impressive looking last time, having given Geoffrey Chaucer a fright when he was 2/7 in a three runner debut for both horses. Geoffrey is out today as well and is as short as a carrot again but will probably shrink even further of Tarfasha wins. At 11/4 Tarfasha would be my pick today with My Titania perhaps more of a long term prospect and maybe needing more than a mile next year. All the best though, she’ll probably hose in now I’m against her

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Famous last words ey Stevie
No I was very happy with her today, few could argue it was reminiscent of her sire, and despite her not winning by much in the end there was a fair old way back to third. As you say, she is more of a long term prospect, but with more to come on top of what we’ve seen today I’m very happy with my investment
September 29, 2013 at 17:43 #452935So Aidan and the boys appear to have hoodwinked us. This
Geoffrey Chaucer
, and not
Indian Maharaja
or
Australia
looks to be the Racing Post Trophy horse of choice. Where that leaves mine and Darren’s fellas I’d love to know!
September 29, 2013 at 20:40 #452951I think AUSTRALIA still go to Doncaster while your horse go to France. or maybe AUSTRALIA could stay at home remember APB said he may not race again after last race.

I was havering regarding regarding My Titania needing more than a mile, I meant the Weld horse. Tarfasha was a little bit disappointing and was readily outpaced by the winner when push came to shove. With Geoffrey Chaucer winning later on, you would have expected Tarfasha to be a little closer. If My Titania had simply beaten that horse by the margin she did I am sure there would have been more impact on her Guineas odds but with the runner up closing at the finish it put a different slant on the form. Was the winner idling or tiring? How strong is the form?
Despite those questions she is a horse who should be a Guineas contender in a very open looking year and with several ahead of her in the market who have question marks. I’d still side with Tapestry as there was much to admire about the way she ran on again after interference in the Moyglare and I think she will improve. I believe Miss France is a silly price based on the Andre Fabre factor and one win where a disappointing hotpot in the form of Radiator sprung a leak.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Ye sorry Steve, hope that didn’t come out like I was having a pop as it’s not how it was intended mate. I’m glad they’ve decided to put my filly away for the year now, it all seems to be bubbling up nicely with her for next year. I’m very sceptical also about the head of the 1000 Guineas market, full of precocious sorts who won’t make proper 3 year olds if you ask me. I’d have to side with the opinion that
My Titania
idled when she hit the front yesterday, but I’m very happy with how she got it done. She really does remind me of her sire and although I’ll agree that a mile won’t be her eventual optimum trip, I do think she’ll be spot on for the Guineas with a view to going further later in the year. I like this horse a lot, I predict big things for her

Sorry Darren, missed your post there. I can’t imagine ‘the boys’ wanting both
Geoffrey Chaucer
and
Australia
heading to Donny so I reckon that rules your boy out. Your thoughts about
Indian Maharaja
intrigue me as in all honesty for whatever reason the idea had completely passed me by
If it’s the Lagardère you’re referring to it wouldn’t be my first choice for the horse as I see it as more of a future miler’s option. If you are, as I presume, referring to the group 1 Criterium that Fame and Glory won as a juvenile then it sounds a good option, one I hope ‘the boys’ would look to. That’d keep his stamina-doubters quiet!
October 1, 2013 at 14:48 #453175Was thinking of the other group one at a mile the race JAN VERMEER won in france at a mile that race i was thinking of.

Yes Darren my mistake mate, was thinking
Jan Vermeer
had won the same race as
Fame And Glory
at 2 until I looked. I suppose the mile event would be the obvious choice.
