Hi guys and girls,
My PC is an embarrassment but I love it and anyway, I’m not in a position to upgrade. I can’t get the RP site to work properly and Monday signals the end of my nightly form study. It’s a pity – I buy the RP regularly and I’m generally a fan. No-one consulted me on my thoughts either.
I am utterly uninterested in tips, ratings, the dubious thinking of Matt Williams, spotlights, pricewise, signposts etc), but the database is a treasure and I’ll miss it. Form and pedigrees. *sigh* And Steve Palmer’s blog is funny on occasion.
Are there any alternatives I don’t know about? I use the Life on occasion and once used Superform on the Hills site. What are other refuseniks/technological cavepeople planning to do?
December 1, 2008 at 00:01 #193415You probably know of the At The Races web site Maxilon 5.But since you didn’t mention it, I thought it might be worth pointing you in that direction, just in case. It is, on occasion, slow but has a very good data base, videos and assortment of other decent attributes and is free to join.
December 1, 2008 at 00:16 #193418Betfair’s pages have overnight betting forecasts and the horses’ last entries in Timeform Perspective for both UK and Irish racing.
This resource has grown from nothing in a fairly short space of time, and, who knows, it may grow further.
December 1, 2008 at 01:06 #193427I’d probably upgrade your PC, Max – it is remarkable how cheap it is to get a computer that would be able to cope with the RP site these days.
I agree with your thoughts – the RP database is excellent and has been the best free site I have come across (in pretty much any field.. )
I’m not sure whether they are planning to charge for its use in the future, but if they are, the only surprise would be that it has taken so long…
December 1, 2008 at 08:30 #193491It’s always puzzled why the Racing Post whose business is selling newsprint run a website with the same information for free.
In any other business it would be financial suicide, unless they are making a bundle from the advertisers.
If they do start charging it would be a golden opportunity for the likes of ATR, Betfair and The Sporting Life to up their game and produce something for free that would/could be the equal of the RP.
December 1, 2008 at 08:32 #193492You can buy a PDF version of the Racing Post’s paper each night from about 2am or so Max. Well worth it on these days when it’s cold and you don’t want to have to go out at 7am to buy it from the paper shop.
December 1, 2008 at 08:42 #193493Max, try this one : http://www.irish-racing.com/v4index.htm
December 1, 2008 at 15:40 #193531Likewise, can’t recommend the Betfair/Timeform site enough:- http://form.horseracing.betfair.com
Basically everything on the RP site with promise of more to come..
December 1, 2008 at 17:29 #193570Why not use the RP betting site? Or is that getting axed in the revolution as well?
December 2, 2008 at 05:23 #193684Thanks for the advice, chaps. Some good stuff.

Could anyone help me find the comparison’s for the results as the new RP doesn’t seem to show it?
If this is the case then im looking at losing a lot of work and money. thanks TRF
