I’m thinking of
Gold Cup
Weapons Amnesty 16/1
Somersby 16/1Champion Hurdle
Dunguib 10/1
Hurricane Fly 12/1Champion Chase
Captain Cee Bee 20/1
Big Zeb 5/1Doubles and trebles. It’s never too early!

It should keep us cool during those boring, long, hot summer days.
Copper Bleu for the Paddy Power / Boylesports double next season.
March 20, 2010 at 00:44 #284185Somersby I’ve done at 20s with VC. Annoyed with myself, was gonna do him the other day at 25s with Hills but shired away.
Would err on the side of caution with Hurricane Fly. Missed 2 Festivals now. Hmmm. Also wouldn’t go near Dunguib. Others have much more scope for improvement. Hard pushed to see past Binocular if I’m honest.
Couldn’t possibly go near Captain Cee Bee, and we all know Big Zeb doesn’t jump well enough to win a Cha……..
Master Minded, Binocular, Somersby and Zaynar would be my 4 for next year.

Peddlers Cross (33/1) for the Champion Hurdle.

I can’t see beyond Binocular and Hurricane Fly. The formar was so impressive he looks like he could win another 2 Champion Hurdles now Dunquib has been exposed.
If Hurrcane Fly came back to his best he’s the one horse who may be able to match Binocular for toe and he looks the only possible danger to me.
Considering Kauto Star walked through one fence and was just about to get really involved when he crashed out there’s still every chance he can come back and win another Gold Cup.
Imperial Commander has now won both the Ryanair and The Gold Cup and is jhis place in the market is well justified. As for the rest they have an awful lot of catching up to do if they are going to be any sort of threat to the front two.
Binocular I’ll be backing on his own as usual but up I’ve leapt in already with:
Binocular 4/1
Hurricane Fly 12/1Kauto Star 6/1
Imperial Commander 4/14 X doubles
The possibilities are 24/1, 34/1, 64/1 and 90/1 doubles which seem fantastic odds for 4 of the best horses in training.

I’m sure that request will gather momentum, H.
The Stewart Family must be tempted.
March 20, 2010 at 14:43 #284283Nicholls’ text to Mr Stewart read; ‘World Hurdle 2011, Gold Cup 2012?’ No reply as yet (apparently).
March 20, 2010 at 16:40 #284320Walkon for the Arkle – I’m told he’s back at the yard and looks in great shape. Missing out this troubled season for the stable could prove a blessing.

Long Run GCupMarch 20, 2010 at 20:47 #284397Perfectly obvious that " I " win the 2011 Gold Cup.
The only question is how heavy to pile in at 12/1.
It’s a tricky one
March 20, 2010 at 20:58 #284403He’s an incredible horse, the best in training, but I’d want to see him jump a LOT better before I’d back him for the Gold Cup. Long Run apparently could win with half a dozen mistakes and look what happened there…
March 20, 2010 at 21:21 #284419Yeah he has to learn.
Thing is, whatever he does, however he does it (or maybe, doesn’t quite do it), he may well be 5/2 on the day. A clear round over fences on the way would be useful though!Fwiw I’m not sure Long Run is really going to be suited by 26f I called him wrong in the RSA, but then again I wanted him to run in the Arkle. Imperial Commander is some horse mind.
March 20, 2010 at 21:54 #284432I think it’s a little early to dismiss Long Run. He is only 5 and he’ll still be growing into himself. He’s a gorgeous big (17 hands?)baby of a horse and I would hope that by the time he’s 7 he will stay better. I would prefer to see someone with more experience ride him – Sam is competent enough but Long Run does need more help with his jumping.
I would actually have preferred he miss Cheltenham altogether this year and had time to strengthen up but I suppose he only has one novice season. I’d put him away with a mind to starting a little earlier in the autumn and giving him some groundwork and showjumping.
That said, I remember what happened when they tried to teach Devon Malcolm to bowl "properly".. sometimes you just have to let them do it their way!
Have sworn off ante-post after this year but I have a feeling Weapons Amnesty may be a bigger price closer to the day anyway.
March 20, 2010 at 22:19 #284441Somersby will start off in the Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon,he will then contest the King George which will tell us wether he runs in the Gold Cup or the Ryanair! Exciting horse who jumps and travels and has endless amounts of scope, good or soft ground suits fine, its just a question of what his ideal trip will be! 25/1 for the Gold Cup has been taken though!
Weapons Amnesty 10/1 is now a Cheltenham specialist and is guaranteed to get the Gold Cup trip, good ground suits better than soft but he gets through it! Pandorama at 50"s would appeal now too!March 20, 2010 at 23:52 #284485I was disappointed with the ride Long Run got. Waley-Cohen is a decent rider among the amateur brigade but in those top races against the crack jocks things happen quickly and you need the day to day race to race match practise which makes those decisions instinctive. Instead of hunting around the horse was ‘racing’ a long way out. I appreciate the horse may not have been helping him but I think if you put Geraghty or Walsh on board the horse may well be the real deal. Still very young and if they look after him, as I’m sure they will, then he could well win a Gold Cup one day. I’m confident he’ll win a King George.
I also very much like Sanctuaire and the Champion Hurdle may not be outwith the realms of possibility for him.
March 21, 2010 at 12:54 #284625Had a little dabble on a couple of horses already:
Masterminded @ between 8.6 and 9.2 on the machine- he’s put in a bad race before and come back, still young and much more effective with a bit of cut. I’m expecting to be able to lay this off @ much shorter in the future.
Hurricane Fly @ 15, i’m still not convinced we’ve seen the best of him and he’s the only horse I could see with the potential to trouble Binocular (glass hooves still a worry though).
Zaynar @ 14 for WH, there must be a reasonable chance BB will be heading back over fences next year and if so this could be a great bet.
