Both tracks yesterday were riding very fast, this helped

lower the Juvenile course record by 0.05secs at Lingfeld in a (class 4) 2yo nursery

Working out the going allowance for today’s meeting Lingfield took a bit of careful thought as you had a combination of the lowest quality field ever assembled on a Saturday card at Lingfield, run on a fast track.

He is entered in two races at Wolverhampton on the

Due to the extremely fast going, the form book is getting turned on it’s head and as a result of this, at the top of today’s speed figures was

    Thecornishcowboy

who won a (Class 6) handicap and managed to better my (class 6) par of

    58

    by

    20lbs

When I calculated the going allowance at

    0.00s/f

    ,

    Thecornishcowboy

    speed figure came out at

    103

, which would be a listed class par time in a (class 6) handicap

I await with interest to see what Dave Edwards "Top Speed" makes the going allowance 8)

    Update:

Dave Edwards made the going allowance

    +0.32s/f

    and gave the

    Thecornishcowboy

his top rated speed figure of

    79

    :D .
    Top Speed is normally approx

    8lb

per furlong less than my calculations due to the fact we use different lbs. per length figures and he also uses WFA. 8)
Just out of interest, Top Speed’s (class 6) par is

    62

    , so

    Thecornishcowboy

bettered his par for the class by

    17lbs

I know the track was riding fast last night, we had a (class 7) handicap run

    +0.57

    outside standard

I take my hat off to the plot Dave Evans pulled off with

    Bussa

replacing a 7lb claimer with Adam Kirby, his horse improving his handicap mark by

    19lbs

, Amy Weaver must have been peeved for her well handicap horse

    Sandy Lane

to get touched off by a

    .

Both horses smashed my (Class 7) par of

    by

The only individual performance to note has to go to

    Bertie Blu Boy +9

    45

and was due to go down to an official rating of

    in future handicaps.

He is entered in two races at Wolverhampton on the

    14th

    off his new mark of

    38

Strike while the iron is hot, the handicapper will get his revenge :D

    handicap mark went from

    38

    up

    14lbs

    Soapbox time:

    I have to mention

    Gabrial’s Hope +7

who made it into the top ten speed figures list and has improved his speed figure total from his last two races by

    67lbs

, without winning a race

In his first 3 races, he was beaten a accumulative total of

    239 lengths

and was given an OR rating of

    18

On his handicapped debut, I had him down as improving by

    +25

and the handicapper put him up

    42lbs

to a new OR rating of

    60

Over the same distance in the 4.50, I thought

    De Rigueur

was a good thing and he won like one, earning a speed figure from me of

    62

    compared to

    Gabrial’s Hope

    speed figure of

    67

    In conclusion

    Gabrial’s Hope

has to be my biggest improver on the flat this year, up

    67lbs

, or the most bent, the jury is out on this one, I am leaning towards the latter 8)

In retrospect I shouldn’t have used the word

    "bent"

, in future I will refer to it as doing a

    "Barney"

    :D

The other improver’s on the card to note were

    Honoured +10

    (6.50 Wolverhampton).

    On The Hoof +9

    ,

    Al’s Memory +8

    and

    The

    polytrack

    A special mention goes to

    Ovett

a 2yo trained by Gary Moore, who dipped under the standard time by

    0.05s

producing the fastest time on the night, he moves into the top three 3 of the AW 2yo’s :D

Back in September at Chepstow, one of the biggest improver’s I have ever had was

    Menadati +18

who since his win has been treated for a kidney infection.

Made 4/1 joint favourite to win the 6.55 Kempton a (Class 6) apprentice race, you have got to watch the video to see what happened to him, the young jockey is going to have nightmares about this ride for the rest of his life.

I watched Menadati with interest on Wednesday night as he was joint top rated on my form ratings with the winner. He is a perpetual slow starter and with it being a hands and heels race I was curious to see how the horse would react.
The formline ‘missed break’ doesn’t do him any justice. He was still in the pub when the coach left.
The horse has run really well and he is a winner waiting to happen. Whether Paul Booth is given the job is debatable.
