Granny mcphie appeals each way trainet and jockey 2/2.January 20, 2011 at 19:08 #336889Terrific work at Kempton, Slippery.
You must have been the only punter in the world to put up ol’Johnny. And a juicy forecast in the nightcap too.
One thing you can guarantee at Kempton is a good pace (unlike Leafy, which is becoming an embarrassment again), and all ratings systems work better with a good pace.

Granny mcphie appeals each way trainet and jockey 2/2.Granny mcphee was out the back most of the race, Chosen forever attempted to nick the race from a long way out taking along Thunderstruck setting the race up for the chasing group. Mongoose Alert made the frame. Mighty Clarets made it a hat trick of big priced wins at Wolves.

Thanks Max.. Still need to tweak the ratings weightings but its getting there. That 16/1 and 6/1 paid for a lot of losers
January 23, 2011 at 13:47 #3373593.45 at Kempton today looks a cracking contest, a listed race in all but name and should be plenty of pace on with perennial front runners Beauchamp Viceroy, Suits Me and Bravo Echo in opposition. Benandonner and Greyfriarschorsita likely to be close up too.
That obviously brings Lowther into it who will get the race run to suit and has a pretty fair chance at the weights. Return of a fully-fledged jockey will help too I think. However I do think Greyfriarschorista will take plenty of beating. Yard flying, excellent record on polytrack and he’s by no means as exposed at the rest. Basically we know how good they all are. His season flattened out after the Brittania but given how that form worked out he could prove well treated on these terms and he can sit close up from his high draw behind the pace horses. Though he’s only 11/4 now. I’d have made him around a 2/1, 9/4 chance.

Thursday 27th January
Kempton Park: 19:20
Comment
: Not a race to get heavily involved in as there are multiple horses in this field that have more questions than answers
Contenders
Vintage – Good recent race, 7yoEbraam – 8yo but in good form based on recent run
Methaaly – 8yo, in good form but need to overcome high BHA rating
Bahamian Lad – 108 day course absence. Last All Weather win in 2009Diriculous – Win last time out and retains winning jockey. Tandem with Methaaly whom he beat.
Kempton Park: 19:50
Contenders
: 1. Yakama 2. Vezere 3. Sunset Place 4. Mr Chocolate Drop

February 1, 2011 at 12:09 #338622For a horse who exactly a year ago raced off 67 behind decent handicapper Poets Place and who today races off a ridiculous 49,
Ponting
is the best handicapped horse of the day. Heavily backed last time out and again this morning.
I’m anticipating a much improved run in a race crammed full with horses trained in out of form stables. Admittedly, Paul Midgeley’s outfit hasn’t been pulling up any trees, but he had a good handicap winner with Toby Tyler two meetings ago and the last time I saw him, he had a smile on his face. Ideally suited to conditions – a well handicapped, prominent racer and a two time winner over the sandpit 6f (the best in the field.)
Best of luck – 50,000 views today.
February 1, 2011 at 12:50 #338628Southwell 2.30
Dancing Freddy – Trainer on the cold list
Gold Story – Beaten Favourite the last 3 times
Muqalad – Poor recent form
Errigal Lad – Poor form at Southwell
Dancing Wave – Out of the handicap
Itsthursdayalready – Pace biased although good recent form.
Quadrifolio – Poor recent form
Fair Bunny – No Southwell form
Ponting – Potential but no value
Running Mate – Long absence but stranger in the field
White Ledger – Out of the handicap, last win 2004Shocking race and one to avoid. The market is always a good guide at Southwell so if Itsthursdayalready receives market support “I’m out”. If not against my better judgement I’ll make a speculative 20% 80% win/place bet on
Running Mate
and
Muqalad

My figures suggest that recent CD winner
Pelmanism
should be able to follow up tomorrow . Nubar Boy is also of some interest at a price.
February 5, 2011 at 10:05 #339078Good profit there, S, with the Smart horse.
Paul Midgely, sadly, appears to have some way to go before his horses are out of the dark woods.
I quite like both of yours, thebairn, particularly the latter. Your value bet has a hell of a lot going for it today, with the jockey change a particular eyecatcher – TQ excelled on Lay Claim on Wednesday night and this race could unfold in identical fashion. The best of luck.
