Despite my lingering doubts about all-weather betting, I can’t resist an interest in
Comadoir
in Kempton’s 2.55. He’s ideally drawn for a front-runner (is also inside the other likely pace-setter in Lesley’s Choice), acts well at the track and is best suited by five furlongs.
February 12, 2009 at 19:39 #209888Afternoon team. Just blagged a meeting and off for the 15.35 onward.
Best bet of the day runs in the sixth and that’s Tyzack. Superb record fresh, and a superb record fresh, for Fenton, and at Southwell. Off 67 today and up against some poorly handicapped types.
In the nightcap, I can’t resist one more attempt at getting a win out of Le Petit Vigier who ran so well here in December in a much better race.
At Kempers, I’ve got to back Calculating one mo time under Hayley. though I will be covering stakes with a rare exacta including the tasty favourite, Mission Control, who looks banker material at 5/2.
Best of luck.

Comadoir drawn inside both Lesley’s Choice and Love You Louis, and by the turn he’s three-wide and outside the pair.
You gotta love the all-weather

Unlucky with Tyzack, Max, very unlucky – was it the Maxilon millions that saw him into 11s from 20s
February 12, 2009 at 22:31 #209912I’ve just got back, Equitrack. Absolutely gutted, really upset. If I didn’t have bad luck, I wouldn’t have any luck at all.
Several of us got 20/1 with Paul Johnson (most of the bookies were going 16) after seeing Tyzack go down to post.
Stef walked the horse onto the track keeping the cream blanket on all the time (which I’ve not noticed before), and then, when the horse was let loose, you could see why. Tyzack was trained to the minute, the absolute second.
That was when the price collapsed. Even the lasses in the Ladbrokes clubbed together to back it. The red jacketed Johnson must have bobbing himself in the last three furlongs.
Connections were quite upset in the winners enclosure after. This was the plan and testament once again to Stef Liddiard’s consummate AW skills. And now all the lemming favourite backers will have noticed it and the V word has all disappeared.
As for the winner, Equitrack – and there is an element of pocket talking here – I have not seen a horse ridden more aggressively this season. He wasn’t so much encouraged as assaulted by the very average Paul Doe, from fully a furlong out. I counted sixteen meaty cracks, two from above the shoulder, and when the horse came into the winners enclosure, it didn’t look too happy about his day out. An RSPCA rep would have been very interested in the ride.
And Tyzack?
Tyzack was hit twice. Tell me how that is a level playing field? Those two horses were racing under two different sets of rules. If whips were banned – as surely they will be in five years – the Southwell mafia would be eating Chateaubriand tonight instead of Ye Old Oak hot dog sausages. And to top it off, the Beaumont horse ran into a live one from the mystifying Dods’ yard, a stable permanently on my bogey list. A crappy day.
Best of luck tomoz.
Unlucky Cav, and well done with the Harris horse, Aaron. Paid for the day.

I assume Paul Doe will be called to account if that is the case, Max, but surely you should be questioning Micky Fenton’s effort? I generally actively avoid backing anything he’s on, no matter how strongly I fancy it, because he is deplorably weak all round.
Still, I imagine you did well on the each-way return?
February 12, 2009 at 23:15 #209920I’m not sure Ms Liddiard allows her horses to be hit, Equitrack, certainly not like the Evans horse in this example.
Doe wasn’t called in so, as I admit, there may be an element of bitterness in my reaction notwithstanding the noticeable tendency of AW stewards to prefer gin swigging to enquiries.

That would certainly suit Fenton then, Max, though I wouldn’t expect David Evans to be quite so caring

February 16, 2009 at 18:48 #2105302.25W A pretty poor race where one of the fancied horses Ramvaswani is 0-34 and a chance is taken with Desert Hawk who ran a fair race when 2L behind Safin over C&D last month
300W Jolly Ranch won a poor race LTO but seems to be improving with each run and gets the vote
335W Dancing Deano is reasonably reliable in this grade and although yet to win this far has little to beat IMO this afternoon and is a confident choice.
440W Strike Force won a couple over C&D in September of last year and ran a little better LTO than of late and should go close. I am however taking a chance on Fandango Boy at a big price to reproduce its run behind Cherri Fosfate in December.
540W All 5 are C&D winners but preference is just for Red Cape who ran well behind a Wigham special last time out

Mr Macattack
looks worthy of some interest in the 5.40.
