Funding of racing will carry on being a bookie benefit , until that golden day when someone , somwhere says no more , scaraps the current diatribe and we go for a tote PM system , then and only then will racing be funded properly

Yes Ricky, but "properly funded" just means punters losing more doesn’t it?

And Tote monopolies are just competition-free, self-serving monoliths that serve up dismal products at appalling overrounds. I don’t share people’s enthusiasm for diverting vastly more of punters cash to already-wealthy owners in order to fund those fortunate people’s hobbies.

Our system is a distance away from being perfect. But it has competition. Which is why punters stand a chance in this country and absolutely no chance in the Tote monopoly

A tote monopoly is unrealistic. British punters are not used to it and will not use it.

A better summation I’ve not seen.
