Obviously – though Funridedon might still be a remote alternative possibility.
(Gladders ON FIRE today – needs routine testing tbh given the improvement in form).

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"July 18, 2023 at 21:17 #1655833Thanks to those who provided further information on the Liverpool/Aintree name change. Based on publications that I have from the 1990s, I suspected that usage of “Aintree” was something that gradually became more prevalent over the course of the decade. This seems to be in line with other people’s observations.
The book “Aintree – The History of the Racecourse” by John Pinfold mentions that the official name change occurred in 1990.

Intensive research (<5 minutes on Google) reveals there’s a thriving Devon & Exeter Football League (ampersand obligatory) and a probably less than thriving Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (ampersand optional)
The formation ‘Devon &/and Exeter’ is a tad strange as it implies that Exeter is not part of Devon
Akin to ‘Wales and Monmouthshire’ prior to the official incorporation – after centuries of hoo-hah – of Monmouthshire into Wales in the early ’70s
