I still like the chances of
Both EW for me
April 8, 2011 at 10:55 #349212I quite fancy Ballyholland for this too. He jumped like a dream in the national last year and just didnt get the trip. Was looked after when it became clear he wasnt gona stay and he looks to have been targetted at this.

I’ll be jumping every fence with Frankie. We’ll stand or fall, together! It’s gonna be a hell of a ride

I dont mind being a chicken if Paul Carbery brings Dev home at 9/1. Good luck with Frankie Figg.

Isn’t That Lucky
April 8, 2011 at 14:50 #349257Fair play, great effort by Mon Parrain after I wrote him off, found nothing in the run-in though. Well done to AW, he loves this race.
April 8, 2011 at 14:54 #349259Nice little pick up – great ride – thanks to all AW connections.
Would’ve been an interesting participant tom,if he’d have sneaked in.
Mon Parrain was my other bet – weight rise probably too much for him – that run from the Elbow is a killer!
April 8, 2011 at 15:01 #349261Given that he knew the horse would stay I bet Walsh and favourite backers wished he had kicked on instead of trying to win on the bridle.

Mon Parrin the new Denman?
April 8, 2011 at 17:29 #18137Is it true that all the horses and jockeys were okay after today’s race? I could have sworn one horse looked like it was dead after falling at the 8th, but don’t know which one it was. RP says that Bible Lord is being assessed, but nothing further on fallers.
April 8, 2011 at 18:57 #349306The first and second both ran well, Mon Parrain was just giving away too much weight to an Aintree specialist.
April 8, 2011 at 19:24 #349311The horse you are thinking of was Bible Lord, the chestnut who came down on the outside. Had a horrible fall, then to make matters worse was clattered by Nevada Royale who he brought down. When the camera angle changed he was still down. Richard Hoiles tweeted that he was still on the ground a while later, but they now say on the RP that he is ok and just had a bang on the head. Was delighted to read that.
Can’t believe nothing was killed today, they went so fast and some horrific falls. How Pickamus wasn’t killed at Beechers is beyond me, one of the worst falls I’ve seen in ages, yet he not only got up but carried on jumping behind the field. I was glad to see them watering because if they go like that tomorrow it could be disastrous.

Great news about Bible Lord. I’m sure there would have been a lot of controversy if something terrible happened to him, being such a notoriously clumsy old thing.April 11, 2011 at 08:55 #349742Glad some of you followed the trends, what a superb ride and race from Always Waining.
Mon Perrain jumps a fence beautifully, wonder how good he will turn out to be and whether he will get further in time.
Get in Always Waining
