Just to add to the tale of woe, I have been told by my hotel that even if I can’t get to Liverpool because of the train strike, they will not refund the cost of my reservation as its against their rules – what a rip-off.
I think we should all ban going to Liverpool and refuse to go there ever again until they have come to their senses about running a decent bus service, stopped carrying roadworks at the worst time possible and cutting the exorbitant prices in their hotels.
It know won’t happen, but I’d love to see the city brought to its knees because of this foolishness.
April 27, 2010 at 08:45 #292726theres a well written letter in todays post about the lack of a park and ride at aintree.
the reply from aintree blames dwindling numbers using it for its demise and claimes it isnt viable.
well first up there seemed to be just as many people using it in 2009 and secondly i think we can safely assume the park and ride is gone forever.April 27, 2010 at 15:48 #292802I read todays letter with interest, having written along similar lines direct to Aintree (no reply yet). I have noted on another thread my annoyance at the £5 racecard and would also add that a small bottle of wine was charged at £5.30 by the same catering company who charge £4.70 for it at Cheltenham! Perhaps the lady at Aintree would like to join me next year and experience the pushing and shoving and packing in like sardines on the train and tell me that this is a better way to travel than a Park and Ride? I too felt it was well used in 2009 and we even drove past the site we parked at last year to see it would still served the purpose.
April 27, 2010 at 17:11 #292817I doubt I will attend "Ladies Day" next year as I too was fed up playing sardines and getting stuck behind their hats on the train to Aintree this year. Its not as if they have any idea what they’re even doing there anyway.
