Thanks folks. Lossie didn’t look 100% happy to me but hurdled quite well and got the job done. Wodhooh ran a cracker, and had 3 days’ less recovery time than Lossie, from possibly a harder race.
I hope Constitution Hill doesn’t go to Punchestown now, two falls in a row is hard going.

Nico got the horse blocked in and that’s why he lost his position.
poor ride.. I can only assume he worried about the trip and wanting to hold onto him for as long as possible.

“Nico stated he was happy tracking Lossiemouth suggesting he had her covered.”

To paraphrase the late, great Mandy Rice Davies: “He would say that, wouldn’t he?”

He doesn’t want to draw attention to getting caught in a pocket and allowing his only rival to overtake and get first run on him.

    100% CAS
Nico wasn’t tracking Lossie until he messed it up
The horse deserves better, probably sensed Nico’s panic
I don’t mind the jockey to be fair but that was a mess

No excuse for him this time. He was already beaten a long way from home

You seriously need to look back at CH’s first hurdle win.
I’m adamant that Constitution Hill had his afterburners deployed before he fell.

An interesting clip. Mr Buckley certainly did not look in good humour.

Worth remembering he used to insist on David Mullins riding his horses because he didn’t rate De Boinville.

If the horse does run at Punchestown, will NDB be on his back?

Same here, Nathan. I don’t mind De Boinville generally and he has clearly had a lot of success. But that was not a good tactical ride and he is not in the same league as Townend.

NDB is a decent enough jockey but not a great one.

“I’d give him a try on the Flat!”

He would win a maiden but I doubt he would be up to winning anything any good, so there is probably not much point.

Well hopefully that’s an end to the nonsense , very talented horse once but not now , great to see the mare win and she’s the best hurdler in training now , got to go CH next season and Elliots mare can mop up the mares hurdle , I’m sorry but Henderson deserves the egg on his face …

Henderson has trained the winner of the Cesarewitch three times with lesser lights than Constitution Hill. Winning that race pays considerably more prizemoney than, say, the Christmas Hurdle or the Fighting Fifth.

I’m not saying the Ces would be the race to target with Constitution Hill, but the Flat is an avenue that may be worth exploring bearing in mind his present jumping frailties.

Crazy Hendersons reaction to two heavy falls is let’s head to punchestown. Surely they should go away and have a think about it whether it’s a change of jockey or putting away for jumping fences next year. Just repeating the same mistake again won’t make it any different. I’m sure it will be even more tactical at punchestown and it looks like c hill has lost that tactical speed to get out of trouble. I’d put him away then go jumping. He’s not going to improve now and a new star may emerge next season. I wouldn’t knock the form btw. I think the first two are top horses. Imho.

For a horse Buckley boasted was going to win the Champion Hurdle, Gold Cup and the Cup Final, it would almost be humiliating if he ended up running in a handicap on the Flat.

“Surely they should go away and have a think about it whether it’s a change of jockey or putting away for jumping fences next year.”

I wondered about fences as well. He is only 8. Faugheen was older when he went chasing and won a Grade 1 at the DRF.

At 8yo, the ship has sailed for him to do anything meaningful on the flat.

2 years ago, after demolishing the champion hurdle field including Vauban, I honestly think he could have contested group 1’s on the flat over 1m4f. I know that sounds crazy but that’s just how good I think this horse was then.

Vauban is no slouch on the flat and I think Constitution Hill would’ve blown him off the track back then.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they just go out and make all, as he often did in 2022-23.

They probably will try to do that but whether it works out like that is another matter. Plus mullins could put a golden freeze type spoiler in there. I’d put him away now as nothing to be gained running at punchestown. Something isn’t quite right and better to look at that than just keep running him.

I was just thinking that. In todays race I kept saying to Mike ‘ they’re boxing him in’ and it would be even worse at Punchestown.I don’t really understand how a horse can go from being a good jumper to a bad one but maybe the problems he’s had have taken away that extra scope he had that made him seem invincible. I’ll always remember David Elseworth saying, after Dessie had ran what would turn out to be his last winning race and everyone was eulogising about him, that his win hadn’t appeared as easy as it looked. I just wish the media hadn’t put him on that pedestal; having cardboard cut outs of him on race days etc. Mind you, what do I know. I used to think that Lossiemouth was a dodgy jumper!
