I’ve went the very unoriginal route with Jett here at 4-1. I think that he should go very close.
I’ve taken an outsider early as well, and it’s Drumconnor Lad at 40-1 ew

Jett should go well he loved the national course last year before tiring over longer decent

Think he’s a great bet personally
April 5, 2022 at 17:43 #1591276My eye was caught by the booking of Patrick Mullins for Myth Buster – replacing Sara Bradstock’s daughter, Lily. That’s got to be a positive surely, for this ex-De Bromhead horse, although I can’t see any previous association with Mr Mullins in Ireland.
Ladbrokes were 33-1 this afternoon, but now in to 22-1 along with Corals -looked too good to ignore…
April 5, 2022 at 19:06 #1591300Porlock Bay is a pretty mad price and I’ll have a go on old friend Activial. Never go too mad in this.
April 5, 2022 at 19:15 #1591304I played Jett a few times for Cheltenham ……hopefully he can make up here

April 5, 2022 at 20:56 #1591313Cousin Pascal and Latenightpass are my two against the field.
They were first and second last year and could be again.
They again have stand-out riders in James King and Gina Andrews and that counts for plenty in this sphere.
Latenightpass might be the safer option, having done little wrong this season.
But it’s possibly a little-known factor that Cousin Pascal does not seem to travel well.
He is trained at Tarporley, just down the road from Aintree and Haydock Park and won his most recent outings at both, this race last year and flooring Bob And Co in the Walrus.
But lengthy trips to Alnwick, Charing, Hereford and Cheltenham saw him run below par.
I expect Cousin Pascal to be at his peak in his bid to win it again.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"April 6, 2022 at 22:39 #1591527I’ve decided to add Clondaw Westie. I like to back one that placed the year before and he’s a nice big price for a little fun.
It’s all getting rather exciting now!
April 6, 2022 at 23:27 #1591544Sticking with the highly unlikely The Dellercheckout here. Travelled well for a while at Ludlow, and got a couple of wins this year in points

April 7, 2022 at 05:04 #1591596First of the three races over these unique fences.
On ratings Jett does indeed look a standout, will he set out to make all is the burning question.
Getting a clear sight of these fences is half the battle,up with the pace can be a big advantage.
Two I like at current prices are Pont Aven and Dashing Perk.
The former is ex Mullins, plenty of letters to his name in the last couple seasons.Cheekpieces added for his last couple outings,it was his run in the chelt hunters that caught the eye.Travelled well for a long way,his jumping was efficient which has not always been the case,if softer conditions prevail he has the back class to make an impact.
Dashing Perk is a big scopey individual, lightly raced in recent seasons, just the type the good doctor does well with.Got no further than the first in last years renewal, missed the break then became the filling in a three hose sandwhich, not ideal. His latest run at Sandown looked a big step forward, jumped and travelled before giving best late on.Like to see him up there early,if he does take to this course I can see him running well, another that will cope with softer conditions.
As mentioned, some decent pilots in this race, plenty of their professional peers could learn from them, giving your mount time to respond can reap rewards,as can sitting much stiller in the saddle too.
Safe return for them all is paramount, after that anyones guess.
April 7, 2022 at 07:46 #1591608I’ll try Myth Buster, who I think has a bit of an engine, and Marracudja both ew for an interest.
April 7, 2022 at 08:40 #1591611Because I’ve followed Point-to-Point and Hunter Chases for a great many years, I guess I see it differently to some.
Jockeyship counts for more at this level, for example.
My audio preview of the race can be found at “The Horse Racing Punter” on Facebook if anyone is interested.
It’s free and always will be – it’s something I find enjoyable to do.

Best of luck to all

April 7, 2022 at 12:41 #1591679MICHAEL’S PICK
Twice in the frame in a couple of days at punchestown last year. A very game winner at Downpatrick last run.
COUSIN PASCAL
Course and distance winner.
Both each wayApril 7, 2022 at 13:40 #1591707Not seen much hunter chasing htis season so a little out of touch. Myth Buster was impressive at Musselburgh but might get run off his feet at the shorter trip.
I’ll take chance with Marracudja and Dashing Perk, both each-way.
I suspect we will know if Marracudja fancies it fairly early on. Has been difficult to win with, but the sort that might just click here and has the ability if he does.
I suspect this has been the target for Dashing Perk (hampered and fell early last year). He ran a decent enough race in the veterans’ final at Sandown and has had a short break, which he has needed in the past to produce his best. Drop ping back to a more suitable trip.
April 7, 2022 at 16:17 #1591779WD Ian. A good finish, I was hopping for Cat Tiger to get there just to see David Maxwell’s face, but well done Gina Andrews.
