If anybody had Ajman Bridge each way in the 325 at York then I am sure you must be feeling aggrieved at how Mr Kirby eased up near the line.
That cost him 4th place and cost others their money back and its not the first time he has done that. I had First Flight (came nowhere) so this isn’t just a personal rant but he did exactly the same thing with Rotherwick at Newmarket on Thursday (345) and I had money on that one.
Looking at the races its pretty clear that all he needs to do is keep going without pushing hard but instead he almost completely eases up and loses a place on the nod.
Adam Kirby is a fine jockey but he has been putting himself in a negative light recently.Did anyone else notice the same in these races or am I being unfair here?
July 11, 2015 at 18:33 #1129577I have looked and there was nothing on the Stewards report for Kirby on that race which must mean the Stewards did not believe he had committed a riding offence.
July 11, 2015 at 19:53 #1129600Graham Cunningham highlighted it straight after the race and mentioned it a couple of more times, I’m guessing he was on Each Way.
Certainly looked like he eased down to me.July 11, 2015 at 21:45 #1129650Cunningham mentioned before the race that he was on Ajman Bridge and he did sound a bit personally aggrieved, as you would in such circumstances.
July 11, 2015 at 23:05 #1129655Thought it looked like Ajman Bridge took a sharp step to his left under a right hand drive late on and just lost his stride at that point and lost momentum. Don’t think he dropped his hands just knew the horse was spent.
July 12, 2015 at 07:10 #1130538Agree with tbracing.
The horse was given a couple of smacks and didn’t look to respond.
The horse to the right of him went past as if he Ajman was standing still so not sure if another push would of made him go any faster.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
July 12, 2015 at 10:41 #1130551Fair enough, I wouldn’t have highlighted it myself if it weren’t for the same thing happening on the Thursday at Newmarket.
Just a coincidence perhaps.July 12, 2015 at 11:15 #1130555Jockeys are ordered, if you can’t win with it keep it out of the frame. Part of disguising a runners ability.
July 12, 2015 at 15:03 #1130565edit – didn’t read first post properly.

July 12, 2015 at 18:02 #1130571Kirby is by no means the prime offender when it comes to this . I’ve been round
long enough to see it happen on countless occasions , and there have been many culprits
over the decades. The worst offender (imo) was Lester Piggott. If Lester knew his
chance of winning was gone , he didn’t give a jot whether he finished fourth or fourth last.
Other high profile jockeys have been just as guilty : Frankie Dettori, Richard Hughes
and the worst of all , Jamie Spencer – a man who cares little for us punters , and one who will never, ever feature on my favourite jockey list. When I back a horse for a place , I always bear in mind that the higher the prize money,
the more each jockey will try . Remember , there are no non triers in The Derby.

July 16, 2015 at 07:54 #1137431Firstly ,Hi Forum..
Decided to join after previous forum board I used shut down.
Scanning through some of the topics here I can totally sympathise with Chivers. I have been on the end of one of Kirby lack lustre performances it is frustrating.
However all I can say is it has to go in the notebook ,you’ve noticed the horse is ready for a run perhaps you’ll get a better price nto, this is all you can ale away from it,everyone is at it .We just need to be on when it’s ready.
