Are these the lot or just an example?Incidentally thanks for all that information.I didn’t realize that Bin Suroore ie Godolphin were involved so far back! Seems like some people they never learn.
There’s a lot of cases on the website, I just picked the ones who might be familiar names. And that’s just the British stewards, I imagine the French, Irish et al. have plenty more. Can’t find records online going back before 2002, either.
My "favorite" is this inquiry involving Nicky Henderson (resulting in a 3-month suspension and 40,000 fine). http://www.britishhorseracing.com/resou … tem=089819
Key quote:The real reason he was prepared to use TA close to a race (which it is accepted he would not do with Lasix) was that he thought it would not be detected. He said as much in his interview with BHA investigators on 9 April 2009:-
“…. I wasn’t aware … of the fact that it was a … what we would call a detector. I mean, nobody’s trying to play games with what’s detectable and what’s not detectable, but we have used it in the past and, in my belief, I must admit that I didn’t realise it was at least detectable obviously otherwise we – if it was detectable we were not going to be administering something like that.”
When asked about this passage at the Enquiry, he said that by “detectable” he really meant “illegal”.April 24, 2013 at 08:33 #437215does that mean that they can still go on to breed? and would you back a horse by a horse, that was known to be juiced up? so was not as good as it seemed? worrying questions.
Several horses raced by known juicer Rick Dutrow have become popular sires. Even steroid poster boy Big Brown has been getting big business. Go figure.
I’m sure you’ve all backed a horse sired by an American horse; yes, some of those American horses were on performance enhancing drugs. Not all of them, not even a majority of them, but some. Some of the European ones were too.
so essentially you’re getting something (the progeny) that isn’t going to be as good as you think it is, unless you apply the drugs to that as well!

April 24, 2013 at 11:24 #437235Zarooni has "fessed up" to another four horses:-
"However, the BHA has also revealed that Al Zarooni admitted to investigators he administered banned substances to four further horses – Comitas, Sashiko, Vacationer and Tearless."
They will be regarded as positive for steroids despite not being tested and he will be charged with 15 offences now.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
April 24, 2013 at 11:29 #437236Mahmood Al Zarooni come across as a nice person when ever I got the chance to hear him speak and I don’t think there’s anything malicious in this at all.
Hope he comes out of this with his training career still in tact, lesson learnt and move on.

Lots of people come across as nice, that doesn’t mean anything. He will be finished as a trainer when the dust settles, that is the best bet of the season!! Even if there was no malicious intent, he has been grossly incompetent and stained the reputation of his employer and the sport of Racing. It would be an affront for him to come through this with anything less than his "Jotters"
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
April 24, 2013 at 12:19 #437242it’s ok to do something wrong as long as you come across as a nice bloke?
he’s a cheat end of. imagine if you backed something in the guineas that was clean, you had your life savings on it, and got chinned by certify. would you still regard him as a nice bloke? I wouldn’t.
April 24, 2013 at 13:28 #437250I understand; I backed So You Think, and Camelot to win the Triple Crown. Now I know why Aidan was shocked when SYT was beaten first run in England.Incidentally the horse that beat him dies next time he ran.The utter silence and grief on young Joe’s face at Doncastger will stay in my memory for many a long day. They were sure they could not be beaten that day.I wonder what Mr.Magnier thinks of all this messing with the reputation of his horses and their blood lines. He must think Ascot is Kerry Racing at the strand.
April 24, 2013 at 13:37 #437252Remember if you can how Vincent O’Brien was treated by the English stewards! Also Henderson trains for the Queen so naturally he could do no wrong.Godolphin gives the Queen horses every year, sort of an insurance policy is it not.Henderson’s vet got warned off so I suppose the same will happen to the Godolphin vet.
April 24, 2013 at 14:53 #437256How can you be so certain that O’brien is clean though?
April 24, 2013 at 15:42 #437259Sheikh Mohammed has said that the stable will be locked down with immediate effect. ALL horses will be tested for drugs and there will be no runners from the yard until he is satisfied that the whole yard is completely clean.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

I assume that all the horses who finished ahead of Camelot in the Arc were also up to their paps in illegal substances then andy?

April 24, 2013 at 16:46 #437266When the Sheikh said he built his country on the same ethical principles, i stopped reading. I wouldn’t be suprised if Al Zarooni was acting on instructions from ‘someone’.
April 24, 2013 at 17:46 #437271I hope once all racehorses in the yard are given the all clear they are returned to their previous trainer. Steeler back to Mark Johnston?
Value Is EverythingApril 24, 2013 at 19:25 #437278Anyone now the Ante-post rules on Certify bets!?
Yeh you lose, simple as that! Bookmakers can use their own discretion as to refunding bets on a
sympathetic note
but certainly wont have to if they dont want too.
Some bookies ie Corals are refunding any ante post bets made on Certify. I strongly suspect others will follow suit.
April 24, 2013 at 19:56 #437283Paul the are some circumstances where you’re money is refunded in an ante post bet, under the rules. If you’re horse gets balloted out for instance.

I know but that is clearly part of the rules not an ad-hoc exception, which is what I’m complaining about.
