According to the table wit posted (even allowing for the obvious error mixing up total # of runners with total # of races) proportionately we take the fewest race samples of anywhere worldwide apart from Germany.
And ‘sampling’ does not even equate to actual testing I would think.
And 700 in training samples per annum is a joke.
Actually, we could be taking everything and freeze it.
I have no problem with any corruption or drug use, my bottom line will will always be my guidance. However the promulgation that we are a racing jurisdiction to be looked up to does stick in my craw.
May 25, 2013 at 08:12 #440661Paul Bittar, to his credit, said on CH 4 this morning that he now feels that Improvisation should have been tested.
May 25, 2013 at 09:15 #440670This omission is potentially major. One of the explanations so far given is that the horses didn’t look well when they came back from Dubai (or words to that effect). Yet this horse was obviously well enough to be entered in an early season maiden and go onto win. Whichever way it is looked, i.e. whether the steroids were given pre or post this race, the story of horses not looking well no longer holds true. It would be hoped that the final BHA report takes this into consideration.
May 25, 2013 at 12:45 #440704Do we do random pre race TCO2 testing for bicarbonate loading?
There was a trial years ago to see if hand held monitors were accurate enough. Did the program ever go ahead?

I wonder how much "persuasion" he received to withdraw the appeal?
May 29, 2013 at 14:28 #441083As long as he stays in England he should be safe.
