That’s good, I hope Skybet follow suit.
April 22, 2013 at 21:18 #437062It is very fortunate that Godolphin changed from their usual policy in allowing Dawn Approach to stay with Jim Bolger. They could have lost both big Guineas hopes.

Phew never thought about Dawn Approach.
What a sad day for racing and especially the filly Certify denied her run in the 1000 Guineas.
I sincerely hope that the horses named will be given the chance to race later in the season, my old time favourite Opinion Poll amongst them was always the most genuine horse and trust that the drugs administered will have no adverse effects on them.

I hope William Hills and Ladbrokes do the same Gord.
Back in July…
After saying no more bets until Friday…
2013 1000 Guineas
20 points @ 25/1 (WH) Certify*Impressive on debut in a Newmarket maiden last week in an excellent time.
Then in September…
Actually, before I lay Certify:
12/1 is still far too big so…Another:
1000 Guineas
15 points @ 12/1 (L) Certify* (min 6/1)Before finally laying a bit back…
Whatever the outcome of a BHA enquirey, Godolphin need to get rid of Al Zarooni for their own credibility.Value Is EverythingApril 23, 2013 at 01:07 #437073Heard it mentioned on ATR over the weekend, his stable has 350 horses. Found hard to believe but could be some logistical nightmares here.
Saeed has just 150!!April 23, 2013 at 01:14 #437074Please – no allegations against other trainers and/or anyone else in the Godolphin operation on this (or any other) thread please, thank you.
Joe Janiak was open slather, why because Sheik Mo has more money to sue, nice double standards!!! Others have said Black Caviar was given steroids by Moody and you said nothing. Dan Morton wins the Kings Stand with Scenic Blast and people state that they agree with Johnston’s innuendo, seems to be a bit of a pattern forming here.I even prompted at the time that there were libel laws to protect,i do not remember any reply from you!
April 23, 2013 at 05:52 #437078How about Camelot and So You Think; both defeated by horses from this yard. Coincident?
April 23, 2013 at 07:03 #437080Did the vet not know the rules either? This goes beyond comprehension.
April 23, 2013 at 07:24 #437082Although it’s the trainers responsibility I can’t imagine Mr Al Z personally injecting the animals, which begs the question what on earth were the vets thinking of? Surely it’s their job to understand what treatment is permissable.
I don’t think this was attempted cheating he knew the yard was open to random inspection and there are legitimate medical reasons for using these drugs. Looks more like incompetance to me – or sabotage …?

Maybe but why do you think that would restore their credibility? it’s hard to believe that sheik mo is completely innocent here.

"I don’t think this was attempted cheating…."
Are you serious? I’d say this is just the tip of the iceberg. As someone else mentioned I doubt the trainer injected all the horses himself, so it would appear that ANYBODY in the yard who had anything to do with these injections were ignorant of the rules as well!
Godolphin probably employ Lance Armstrong as a consultant for all we know!
On a serious note, Armstrong’s approach was to dope himself up to the eyeballs and stay out of the way of the testers whilst he was training. When it came to the races he was always clean. What is the random testing programme for horses who are just in training or away from the racecourse? If it is poor Al Zarooni could well have thought that the likelihood of a visit was very low.
April 23, 2013 at 10:30 #437099Whatever the outcome of a BHA enquirey, Godolphin need to get rid of Al Zarooni for their own credibility.
They have stated that any internal action will be held off until the BHA have completed their process. I am sure he will be sent packing immediately afterwards.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
April 23, 2013 at 10:54 #437103This is quite disgraceful – Al Zarooni’s excuse is pitiful.
He will get a lengthy ban, 10 years +, I’d imagine.
Godolphin’s racing manager, Crisford will be dead meat as well, along with a vet or two.
The sport needs to send a clear, totally unambiguous, signal that this sort of thing will not be tolerated.
No fudging please.

Sadly there will be i’m afraid.
the orders surely came from the top, but in this case I think al zarooni will just be brushed under the carpet, the sacrificial lamb as it were, and godolphin will just continue as if nothing happened.
happens in most sports- the majority of which are dodgy no doubt.
Al zarooni claimed he was ignorant of the rules in this case. wtf? you think it’s ok to give steroids to your horses?
April 23, 2013 at 11:01 #437106Well, there’s another trainer about to be warned off.
Sheikh Mo must rue the day he ditched Sir Henry.
I wouldn’t like to be in Al Zarooni’s flip flops right now.

Somehow I doubt it. I suspect a few words of meaningless sympathy from David Williams will be as far as it goes. Personally I am not in favour of these hap-hazard refunds – either they all do it or none at all. A pity there isn’t an actual rule to cover this sort of thing – it is surely a far better case than when some of them refund when a horse refuses to start.
I only backed Certify at 12/1 but had previously backed Newfangled so it wasn’t the best of news.

Jolyp,
Janiak refused to withdraw Takeover Target after a large dose of steroid 17-alpha-hydroxyprogesterone hexanoate was found in its system in Singapore. Stewards were forced to withdraw the horse themselves. Janiak was not only the trainer but part owner, along with his sons. He claimed to have used this substance many times before; given to help Takeover Target overcome the stress of travelling. However, apparently in this case it was injected in to a ligament rather than muscle. How careless
. Many independent experts thought there was a real risk of the substance remaining in the horse’s system – something Mark Johnston (a vet) repeated. These events are well documented, they are not heresay or opinion. Any allegation against Sheikh Mo or any other Godolphin member of staff made on this thread would be opinion/heresay, and could see both you and David Cormack in court.
If there is any risk of these substances remaining in Certify (or any of the other horses) then they should not race again.
I hope Al Zarooni is banned for a long time and suspect Sheikh Mo will ensure he’s never allowed to train again.
