Not my own words:
Owners’ return was roughly € 1.1 million in the past five years in IRE with individual 26 winners from a total of 41 horses.
The break they intend to take could be anything, let’s not hope health related.
But there you have something to think about: 41 different horses over five years cost a lot more than the above mentioned return. Interesting to see who’ll get them as I’m sure they’re not that cheap.
January 25, 2024 at 20:36 #1678506Strikes me as a reaction to the constant bad luck they’ve had with fatalities, the latest expensive purchase to meet their demise being D B Cooper at Fairyhouse yesterday (same track they lost Mighty Potter).
Either that or there is a John Dance-esque scandal incoming..
January 25, 2024 at 20:58 #1678511You could be right, TYT. Losing 3-4 good horses really hurts, but there could be financial problems too. Bankruptcy, divorce, illness only to name a few.
January 25, 2024 at 21:45 #1678516It’s a pity, they have some fabulous horses.
A stoic response from Elliott with nice words to say about them, fair play to him.
I’d better hurry up and do Euromillions so I can buy Imagine and Firm Footings.January 25, 2024 at 21:47 #1678517Definitely no john dance scandal incoming, there business is solid…. Statement from them just confirms its horses theyve lost… shame, theyll have a few stars in there
January 25, 2024 at 23:09 #1678524They certainly had some awful luck with Mighty Potter, DB Cooper and Smooth Player and poor Top Bandit who was fatally injured in a horrible fall this time last year.
January 25, 2024 at 23:23 #1678525I feel for elliott, hopefully jp (youd imagine ittl be jp) buys the main ones and keeps them with elliott
January 18, 2026 at 19:52 #1750992I see Caldwell Construction Ltd went into administration last week.
Accounts showed that it turned over £58m in the year to 31st March 2025 and made a pre-tax profit of £131,000.
