Some 600 out of the 650 MPs are on left
And still people say that there’s no right wing comedy any more.
February 13, 2025 at 10:47 #1720445BBC has found Rachael Reeves lied about the length of time she was at the Bank Of England.
Can just over 5 years really be described as “the best part of a decade”?
…And that 5 years includes when in education. The person in charge of Britain’s money can’t add up.
She is no “economist”.Value Is EverythingFebruary 13, 2025 at 10:54 #1720446“Can I just point out that when his MP’s behave in such a way Starmer removes them swiftly. Unlike recent Conservative governments that have tried to prop up their MP’s misdemeanours hoping that the electorate would forget about what they’ve done”.
I take it Starmer is going to sack Reeves for lying to the electorate?
Value Is EverythingFebruary 13, 2025 at 11:14 #1720447There’s no right wing comedy anymore Richard as the left become very upset if you label them in anyway, and they get you shutdown. All right for them however to call ordinary people far right, racists and nazi’s just to shut them up if they don’t agree with their view.
Okay let’s look at those seats of those currently in Parliament, starting with the left.
404 Labour
72 LD
13 Independents. People like Corbyn, McDonnell etc.
9 SNP.
7 Sinn Fein.
4 Plaid Cymru.
4 Green Party.
2 Social Democratic & Labour Party.
515 sub total before we even get to the Conservatives.
1 even the speaker is a leftie. Now apart from Reform and a couple of unknown’s what’s remaining, 121 Conservatives, the “One Nation” party supposedly a mixture of both left and right. All the main issues of today are the left v the right, no wonder there was chaos and failure in this party, and there will continue to be as long as they exist. They are not fit for purpose, and more and more of their members are waking up to this.
Now I am not going to trawl through 121 MPs, but a supposed fair reflection of their “One Nation” stance would give them 50/50 in both camps.
515 Confirmed on the left
60 left Conservatives
575 in total. That’s not far short of my estimation of 600 out of 650 which is certainly no laughing matter in a place which is supposed to represent and serve the people of this country. One side is not being represented.
Trouble is when you get such swings and a Parliament which is so out of touch with a large part of the country, the reverse is likely to happen in the next General Election.
You can see the One Nation theory of trying to keep both left are right ‘happy’ may have worked some time ago.
But never in our political party’s history have we ever had issues together such as mass migration, DEI, and Net Zero.February 13, 2025 at 13:04 #1720449February 13, 2025 at 13:05 #1720450GSP,
Just because someone might be on the “left” of the Conservative Party, does not mean he / she is on “the left” in “Politics”.I am a “One Nation” Tory and I am on the Centre-Right. More to the Centre than Right…
Just as those on the “Right” in Labour Party are not on the Right in Politics, they could be classed as Centre-Left and some are more to the Centre than Left.
And no, One Nation Tories don’t try and “keep both Left and Right happy”. We’re just towards the centre of politics altogether and therefore agree with SOME things the Centre-Left of the Labour Party believe.
Although when Labour is collectively too far to the left and the Conservatives are collectively too far to the right – in competition with Farage… And Liberals have also now made their bed on The Left… And with trust in the two main parties at an all time low… I do feel there is now room for a new Centre Party that could encompass both the Centre Left of Labour and Centre Right of the Conservatives. Maybe under Rory Stewart and / or Andy Burnham.
Value Is EverythingFebruary 13, 2025 at 14:10 #1720453I think all we hope and strive for is Common Sense and looking after your country first.
Or do we?
February 13, 2025 at 14:15 #1720454Like it CAS, and too true.
Most people are polar opposite’s with the main issues of today. I just wonder what is going to happen in the near future as something has to give.February 17, 2025 at 11:16 #1720795You really couldn’t make it up…. what Labour has now invented.
It’s reported that as part of the deal to surrender the Chagos Islands this Labour government will also fund a ‘development’ fund for Mauritius to make their lives better!
Is there no end to the largesse or ineptitude of Starmer and his cronies which also includes if the Attorney General has his way paying compensation to the likes of Gerry Adams.
Plenty of money for others around the world but a different story when it comes to the UK and it’s citizens.
good luck to allFebruary 17, 2025 at 11:31 #1720796I thought that the business about the Chagos Islands and Gerry Adams had both been started by the previous government? (happy to be corrected on this). They discussed overseas aid/development on TRIP’s recently. It doesn’t just mean giving money away. You do create trading markets and also it’s also a way of gaining soft power.
February 17, 2025 at 12:40 #1720798The previous government did talk with Mauritius moehat but stopped, when I presume they made demands about sovereignty.Anyway nothing was agreed or signed.
What the Attorney General is planning to do is to repeal legislation making it possible to pay Adams and others.
Hope this clears things up.
good luck to allFebruary 21, 2025 at 15:04 #1720983It is not looking too rosey for Jonathan Reynolds, the Business Secretary with zero experience of business.
He has repeatedly presented himself as a solicitor despite never having qualified (he left before completing his training).
When challenged, he fell back on the Reeves defence of blaming it on a minor official who earns far less than him making a mistake on his LinkedIn profile.
Do these people really think it is impressive to blame junior officials for matters which are their own personal responsibility?
Before this is dismissed as trivia or gossip, it is a criminal offence for an unqualified individual to pose as a solicitor, even in a social media profile.
I still wouldn’t mind that much – but the saintly Starmer never missed an opportunity in Opposition to opine that his government would be a model of openness and transparency and would be defined by honesty and integrity. That claim is looking somewhat threadbare.
The Solicitors Regulation Authority has announced it is going to investigate Reynolds. Starmer, as a former Director of Public Prosecutions, must know that Reynolds has committed an offence.
Even his pathetic defence is a lie. He is on record telling the House of Commons he is a solicitor, so aside from breaking the law he has also misled the House.
Starmer had a habit in Opposition of calling for ministers to be sacked for the slightest indiscretion, so presumably he will be dismissing Reynolds forthwith?
February 21, 2025 at 19:18 #1721000Now it transpires Reynolds described himself as a solicitor on his 2015 election leaflet.
Section 106 of the Representation of the People Act states:
“For the purpose of affecting the return of any candidate at the election, makes or publishes any false statement of fact in relation to the candidate’s personal character or conduct shall be guilty of an illegal practice, unless he can show that he had reasonable grounds for believing, and did believe, that statement to be true.”
What did Starmer once say? Something about how law makers cannot be law breakers…
February 21, 2025 at 19:24 #1721001Cork, that made me laugh out loud, quite brilliant
(and that from someone who probably does just that)Added

February 21, 2025 at 20:50 #1721013Thanks but it is not mine. I saw it somewhere and pinched it.
