“How did such an inept stupid individual get so high up in politics”.

    He isn’t high up, really.

Farage has shown in the past that he doesn’t particularly like sharing the limelight, so it will be interesting to see how long the love-in with Jenrick and Braverman lasts.

Meanwhile in the by-election news, Labour are back into 5/2 after an opinion poll in the constituency showed Reform on 36%, Labour on 33% and the Greens way behind on 21%. However, only 140 people were asked, which doesn’t seem like a large sample size.

For what it is worth, when the same people were asked to state their preference if Burnham had been a candidate, Labour’s share rose to 49%.

If you asked the average Joe in the street he’d be a name mentioned it you talked about Reform , Nigel won’t be able to trust either new recruit , I believe it’ll bite him on the arse in the end

I don’t know why the rest of us bother sometimes, all Labour and the Tories are interested in is fruitlessly chasing the Reform vote. It is both pathetic and stupid. Absolutely clueless.

An example of why the true left dislike this government:

it always makes me laugh when the RWNJ element describe Starmer’s government as “socialists”: they are anything but.

I was going to mention the environment. As anyone who watches the news will know, it’s been unusually stormy here in the westcountry. There was little respite between the two most recent storms and there’s another rain warning tomorrow, with the ground already saturated of course.

For obvious reasons places on the coast have been particularly affected so of course everyone is demanding more investment in flood defences etc. Perfectly reasonable but who is going to pay for it? And try suggesting that everyone should try polluting the environment a bit less and you get accused of being a net zero zealot.

Labour has been accused of jeaporsiding the future of farming through taxes. Environmental breakdown will do more damage to farming than any government could ever dream of but they’re queuing up to vote for parties that will only make it worse.

28/08/2025 – We desperately need rain or this could be disastrous for the farmers.

28/01/2026 – More unwanted rain on the way.

Both are a problem, precisely the point.
