    The goodwood cup
    3.35
Strange not to see Frankie here and he is a victim of age and time and tide.
But he is still riding well and the change will do him good.
    KYPRIOS
    STRADIVARIUS
    COLTRANE
    PRINCESS ZOE
    TRUESHAN
Combination tricast to very small stakes.
Very unlikely dividend will exceed the sixty lines unless Coltrane or Zoe can infiltrate the top three.
The ground must have been well hosed for Trueshan to compete.

    MURBIH
    WHERE’S DIANA
    Both win

Murbih has a stewards mark next to the name most runs hit trouble, unseated rider in parade ring, stumbled. With a clear run from stall 2 can go very close.
Where’s Diana started off on a very high mark having won early. Had to work that mark off to win again and subsequently runs off a lower mark than when first assessed. Switched distance last time to offset penalty.
Runs here from high enough stall which means can settle and switch early…..

The two I like in this wide open race are
    PERSUER
Questions to answer on last run.
Ridden by Brian Hughes didn’t put in effort.
Jockey stated would benefit from galloping track. This came soon after win.
    PRESENT STORM
Breakthrough win came here for this winning Irish pointer for Charlie longsdon.
This time last year Brian Hughes rode him into second place having lost an iron. Recovered in final furlong. Having slid down the ratings prior to winning has plenty in hand.
    Clearly likes this course.

    LEOPOLDS ROCK
Looks a good chance here in this type of contest.
Good form coming into the race and decent jockey. James king.
    LEOPOLDS ROCK

Leopolds rock to win by 5 lengths or more
    3/1

Just one winner on these pages with the soul selection taking a break but MARBAAN @14/1 on “The days of curley Spenser” thread and DENABLE @ 6/1 at Worcester along with the one foray over to Galway proving massive each ways from no patience @ 20/1 and Chilean @ 28/1
Got the tricast in the big race but including Coltrane and princess zoe exceeded the dividend.

    Gordon Elliott
Takes on purple mountain with return to base,
a wide margin winner of a maiden hurdle.
Whilst Willie Mullins runner is a graded runner over fences he is entered in a bigger contest later in the week. Joseph O’Brien’s runner LUNAR DISPLAY is also of interest here as the top rated runner

    STARNBERG

Big delay at the start here.
Starnberg recovered well from a tardy start on debut and looks well able to turn over the odds on Godolphin favourite here.

    DAIRERIN
Stands ground after a good win seven days ago.
Interestingly remains on a good mark having been much higher rated in England with plenty of good runs off higher marks.
    MISTER WILSON
would have been a tough nut to crack had the other horse not run, so they both hold strong claims.
As ever these contests are ferociously fought out.

    WHATCOULDHAVEBEEN good fourth @25/1

    PONS AELIUS
    (Place)
Won last time out after a trio of runner up places.
No has the winning thread and capable of a bold bid here.
Three places not a bad offer
    ———————————————-
    Round up.
The last at Galway proving very profitable with a 25/1 fourth.
PONS AELIUS was intimidated and hampered when the running on winner wandered both ways and it’d be hard to explain to any newcomer why the result wouldn’t be turned over. No matter as the bet was place.
GIRLSWANNAHAVEFUN was the winner for David Evans
RETURN TO BASE returned each way at the festival
STARNBERG improved for second and the forecast.

    Goodwood first race

    WHITEFEATHERSFALL
    NATURAL WORLD 🌍
    Both each way
Mark Johnston has to have a shout here. Won readily with a ton in hand when last seen at carlisle and this race is chock full of speed likely to collapse the field heading down to the finish. Goldolphins top weight and top rated horse has had a host of problems since a winning debut. Didn’t go on here but profile suggests better is imminent.
    Goodwood 3.30
    GRAND ALLIANCE
    Each way
    HOO YA MAL
    Win
Chance for the classic generation to stand up for the Derby winner. Ryan Moore takes the reins here on the runner up and Grand Alliance ran well behind fellow runner Changingoftheguard at Ascot.
    Galway 3.55
    Intriguing handicap debut by
Milestone Payment a horse bred in Ireland.
Despatched to the states for 400,000k.
Then rescued from dirt track mediocrity after four runs and claimed backed by the breeders at a knockdown 50k.
Returned to Ireland to win a maiden by 3.75 lengths.
This is a windmill tilt against some proven runners but will lack little for speed going the other direction round on this occasion, having done it ‘the wrong way’ whilst training across the pond.

    Already given
    WHITEFEATHERSFALL
    Each way
The draw data gives the winning stall over the last five years as averaging at 6.8.
Mark Johnston won this from stall 7 last year and his runner was most impressive in winning at Carlisle. He won the opener on day one and this looks the stable’s main hope.
The Godolphin runner NATURAL WORLD (each way)
looks ominous at top weight with such a high rating and has not given his running since debut and must be respected.
