Cheers mate, was given Trustan Times for the Jock National today, any chance?
April 9, 2014 at 18:02 #475089Nice pics there Gord well done with TRADING LEATHER
Questions for you i ask them here you only 140 letters on twitter

What you think of debut by AUSTRALIA i took 25/1 on him to win derby last week. and though he got beat he showed enough to me that he be winning group races this year and be better as a 3yo
Also did you see Gosden horse win at Newmarket 14/1 for 2000 guineas looks a smart prospect we may of seen a guineas and derby winner both debuting this week.
And any thoughts on FLYING OFFICER he won well when he may of needed the run. i think he do well this year maybe a st leger horse at a decent price. has a profile of MASKED MARVEL in winning on debut but getting beat in a group race on 2nd start.
First thing I thought of was you Darren when I saw
Flying Officer
win,of course his form through
Trading Leather
suggests he’s a horse with plenty potential,as is
Montiridge
a horse I really fancied at Royal Ascot but I’m not seeing St leger lights flashing me in the eyes myself!
Australia
did enough to suggest again he’s got plenty up his sleeve but so to has the winner,I’d like to see those pair against each other again.
Kingman
was hugely impressive but there’s a couple of ticks missing from the potential 2014 2000gns winners boxes. I admire your confidence in your 2 Classic selections,we’ll see when both step up to Group company if they can cut the Ice.Good Luck.
Darren one of yours won like a proper stayer today,I hope you didn’t desert him.
April 9, 2014 at 19:12 #475095Boz,not many people know this but I have a Brother who is,well nearly as good a judge as myself.
Is that your better looking older brother Gord?

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Younger but looks older and fatter than my virile self Steve,he’s called Steve too by the way.
April 12, 2014 at 09:54 #475362A great days racing ahead and hopefully an informative one,
Berkshire
is my 3yo colt for this year and not only do I expect a place today over what will most definiely be a trip too short but think he will at worse be placed in both 2000gns and Derby. 7/1 today is big, 19’s for the 2000gns is even bigger but 26’s for the Derby is huge. The usual smokescreens are up and that influences prices but doesn’t affect my opinion.Talking of ‘Panic’,the
My Tent or Yours
supporters today will need to be wearing ear muffs such is the negativeity surrounding my fav hurdlers chances in the Scottish Champion hurdle.TAPK puts his trust in this fellow and I’ll bolster the confidence of those wanting to take the huge 6/4 on offer.
MTOY should be odds-on,if the real horse turns up he canters in.Ah but look at the weight he’s carrying/conceding I hear the doubters say.MTOY is a big horse, bigger than most and he’s a long backed sort,if he doesn’t give this lot the weight easily I’m not the handicapper I think I am,his frame will carry that with ease.I dont see No ‘Jezki’ or ‘The New One’ in this field so he could actually make all and basically play with them rather than AP trying to settle the beast.I dont care what the ground is like he handles it all with ease so imo 6/4 is Xmas.TAPK has never had a £1000 on a horse but having met with the Knights last evening and a few Sherries to bolster confidence,3 of us put £333 in each on the machine at Evs thinking he has to go off Odds-on.To be a legend at this game is all about sticking your neck out at times, not about backing every horse in the race Ginge……….Coward is a word I dont recognise.
April 13, 2014 at 14:38 #475546Commiserations Gord, yesterday didn’t go too well for you. Am afraid that’s what happens when letting sentiment blinker your opinion.
My Tent Or Yours
didn’t have the chance betting suggested giving away all that weight. You’re "not the handicapper" you think you are.

Berkshire
is certainly a good looker, but carrying plenty of condition in the paddock yesterday. Can do better than 9th of 10 in Greenham, particularly over further. However, will need to settle an awful lot better to do so. As far as the Derby’s concerned it’s very disconcerting he pulled so hard over only 7f. Good luck with that project. Still, you can always forget about the horse and start again come June.
By the way, how’s
Stubbs
getting on?
Value Is EverythingApril 13, 2014 at 19:32 #475572I never warmed to Berkshire the way some pundits did and he was one of my lays for the 2000 Guineas, along with Kingston Hill, on the 2000G thread.
Paul Cole’s glory days are behind him and Berkshire looks a horse with a lot to prove after his Greenham run. I don’t think he’ll be a Derby horse and I have nailed my money onto John Gosden with Western Hymn and Munjaz at 33/1 and 66/1 for some outside fun at Epsom. Australia at 5/2 looks a tad suicidal for me and he’s 5/1 in places for the 2000 Guineas now.
Good luck with Tapestry Gord, I wouldn’t put anyone off her but she has appeared a little weak in the market for the 1000 Guineas and the stable are only just ticking over at the moment.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
April 14, 2014 at 10:55 #475613Gord what your thoughts on KINGMAN at the weekend and other winners Gosden had like WESTERN HYMM,BRIGHT APPROACH,EAGLE TOP.
April 14, 2014 at 18:52 #475664Gord will you bet on BGT i know you like these types of TV shows i remember you betting on the Dancing comp that Abbey Clancy won.
My only non sports bet this year is corrie babe MICHELLE KEEGAN 6/1 to win FHM Sexiest woman award did bet at start of the year. She should win it.April 14, 2014 at 22:40 #475697Hey Gord, havent been on here in a while but heading over to Lingfield Friday for the AW Championships.
Fancy anything for it ? Or is it a bit low brow ? Would love to see your man’s Addictive dream win the sprint but he may be up against it in a cracking little race.
Litigant my bet of the meeting . Showed a real turn of foot for a stayer ( previously with Andre Fabre ) when winning his qualifier.
Heading over Thursday, Anything good in the way of Casinos / Nightlife you could recommend in the south London area for 4 degenerate Irish Gamblers on thursday night?
April 17, 2014 at 12:30 #475920Gord any thoughts on maiden races in Ireland tomorrow this PALACE looks intresting.
I’ll be watching
Timiyan
in the
Johan Strauss
maiden myself darren.
Timiyan runs tonight at Limerick Junction.

Should be a great meeting ‘Circles’,I wouldn’t go past

in the sprint and I like

.Being a North Londoner myself (Arsenal) I have always loved venturing into Covent Garden,’Rules’ and ‘The Wolseley’ are 2 of my fav haunts along with the ‘Coalhole’.South London isn’t somewhere I’m familiar with.Have a great trip though.
April 17, 2014 at 21:50 #475973Been working in Norwich all week but promised the lads I’d get down to Cheer on
Toormore
in the Craven if I could,I made it down the A11 with 30 minutes to spare. The last time I rushed down to Newmarket was to see one of my many Ante-Post coups come in but this year was different as I haven’t backed ‘Toormore’ for Newmarket victory but snaffled all the Even money going.Having looked at the field closely I have to say how taken I was with
Be Ready
,he was as fit as a flea and his coat and muscle definition stood out for me,he’s definitely filled out too and I’d mark him down as one to watch for the future,he was cool as you like in the paddock so I dont know what went wrong in the race.
Toormore
reminded me of ‘Toronado’ to look at,he too is a bull of a horse and looked the complete opposite to ‘Be Ready’,I can see a bit of improvement from the winner today but I cant see him troubling
Kingman
.As for
Australia
??.I take Aidens quotes of "The best ever" with a pinch of salt, sure looks a tasty 2000gns on paper though, with or without
Berkshire
.
April 19, 2014 at 10:11 #476168Gord nice you are back just to ask i left 2 posts for you what you think of them
April 19, 2014 at 21:08 #476266I’ll get back to you as usual darren.Only just got back from Nottingham races and if ever a horse has been shouted from the rooftops its been
Zaeemah
today,6/4 was freely available and even Angus and James off RUK were getting the vibe. She won like a filly needing further but if she wins the Oaks I’ll dye my hair Ginger.
If I am the legend of Ante-Post betting then James Willoughby is the same to the clock, ther is nothing he doesn’t know about sectionals and its always fascinating talking to the guy,he has single handedly brought the importance of such timings to the attention of the BHA and as long as night turns to day we will see Sectionals incorporated in everyday racing jargon sooner rather than later. For those onToormore
and those of us who made the effort to see the horse on Thursday, his times were equating to your average 2000gns winner and the more I watch the re-run the more impressive his performance looks, any flaws in
Kingman
and I can only see stamina as the only issue then ‘Toormore’ will expose it as he will be staying on strongly up the hill again come May 3rd.

Hey Gord, thanks for the post. Flew out thurs morn and had a few probs on the phone front so only saw it when I got back to Ireland. I backed grandisar in the first so may well have done the forecast if I had seen viewpoint earlier!
Stayed in the star in Lingfield which was a nice base and served some tasty food and was quite busy. Didn’t make it to London but probably drank a little too much on the Thursday . Luckily I had my studying done and horses picked so minimum brain activity was required! Had breakfast in the red rum cafe both days, friendly staff , customers and a great meal to start the day.
I suppose any memories of your day at the races will always be tempered By your punting but I thought lingfield did a great job. Success can create its own problems. The fact it was a sellout meant the queues for toilets and in the ladbrokes shops were quite long.
As seen on here there are some people who will never take to the AW and that’s fine . They don’t have to watch, bet on or attend but nobody could argue that a fine days racing wasn’t put on . I will definitely be there next year and I think some of the already spoken about tweaking will improve the day.
On the punting front , I had backed litigant at 11/4 as soon as the race was priced up. On the day after a slow start when place returns off Maggie pink and rivellino were the best I could do , things improved and ended up backing the last 3 winners on course. Also backed the Irish winner in muss and go nani go in the last.
April 21, 2014 at 00:30 #476371Gordon, There’s a full brother to Tapestry in the Ballydoyle 2yos this season. They say he’s a possible for the Chesham at Royal Ascot.
This lad is named John F Kennedy so perhaps Joseph would be well advised to steer clear of grassy knolls on the gallops.
One to keep an eye on I would think.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
