Tiger rolls a bit of an enigma. Triunph Hurdle to the 4miler in 3 seasons. Think he wants a sounder surface dispite being out of Authorized to be seen at his best. Arpege D’alene and Fletcher Flyer for me. Both got beat in the same race last weekend. AD got no cover in a small field and will appreciate the large field in this to sit in behind the pace. This has been the target for Fletchers Flyer all season before going onto the Irish Grand National. No need for NRNB as im 100% sure that this is the target for both.

Edwulf – jocked up in a grade 2 race over 3 miles in navan with Mr Derek O Connor on board. Surely this couldn’t be any more of a clue that he will run in this race

    Cant jump for toffee :negative:

Yes, five mishaps in eleven starts isn’t great news for any horse. The fact that they were going so slowly and he seemingly received little or no assistance from O’Connor didn’t really help with number five. Problem is there is always the chance of the unexpected when McManus is involved.

Would agree with you about Tiger Roll. There is a pretty fair chance the ground will be too soft for him on the opening day.

    Fletchers Flyer isn’t running.

This Edwulf was J O’Briens dark horse in the early post stable tours. Followed it all season and not impressed. Extra distance = more mistakes for this fella

Tiger Roll appears to be on track for this, no idea of jockey booking yet though.

I saw the FFP preview last night also and Jamie Codd was very reticent about his NH Chase ride. I thought that might be because there was a chance Gigginstown might reroute A Genie In Abottle to the RSA (they have previous with this sort of move) specifically. I was hoping this might be the case as I have AGIAB backed NRNB for the RSA at a big price and he seems to me to be the sort who might relish a tough, old school RSA.
I actually like his (AGIAB) chances much less in the 4 miler, specifically as if Beware The Bear is not scratched he might have to meet a significantly more talented rival than anything in the RSA.
Seems Henderson is reluctant to commit though which would be a shame re my current bet on the Bear but might be a good indication of BTB’s potential.
I actually think (don’t laugh too hard) that Beware The Bear could become a Gold Cup contender next year.

, who has notched five festival winners, added: “I’m expecting to have four rides next week. In addition to A Genie In Abottle, I ride Cause Of Causes in the cross-country chase and On The Fringe in the Foxhunter, and I might be on one of Gordon [Elliott]’s in the Kim Muir.”

I have it on good authority from Harry Fry’s stable that American will in fact turn up here rather than the RSA. Currently priced around the 12/1 mark he represents excellent value in my eyes. Jumps like a stag and if he gets into the same routine as at Warwick he’ll be very hard to peg back.

Race target is ground dependant, if it came up softer than ideal he would be rerouted to RSA.

I’m sitting on 14/1 e/w A Genie In Abottle and very happy with the position. He reminds me of Back In Focus as a dour stayer who had the class to rough up some of the best Irish novices. While it must be a good thing to have The Coddfather on my side, this horse is such a simple ride that I’d fancy my chances with even a second-rate amateur aboard.

I don’t wanna be an American idiot. I’m very wary of all trials form from Warwick with their pace bias especially rampant this season. If he ducks the RSA, I’d take that as a big negative with the more prestigious race looking quite open this year.

Argege D’Alene has good each-way claims but he’s not an easy ride and isn’t one I’ll be trusting with my cash. Similar comments apply to Champers On Ice, who’ll need a Katie Walsh-style GBH ride if appearing here. Bigbadjohn has a clear form chance but is another I’d struggle to trust with the trainer having such a wildly hit-or-miss season.

I think my biggest dangers are the admirably straightforward Beware The Bear (lovely ride for an amateur) and Edwulf. I was really impressed by him last time out and think he is the only horse in the race with even an outside chance of developing into a Gold Cup contender for next year. His jumping is still a work in progress though. I don’t think there’s a enough juice in his price to make that a risk worth taking at the moment.

The dreaded change of mind has happened in this race.

Laid off Martello Tower bet and backed Arbe De Vie @ 25’s to win.I’m in the believing camp regarding Acapella Bourgeois so going with the old gut feeling here.

Mondays sorted apart from the Mares so i will just add something to the placepot in that.

Hoping for a run for my money from Tiger Roll, and like the look of Beware The Bear & Kerrow as well.
