    I’ve just been wondering whether this thread will still be going for the 2011 Eclipse and King George, when the 4yos face the onslaught of the up and coming 3yos. :lol:

    I’m no breeding expert either.

    I’ve had a few stellas, so I feel confident enough to answer this.

    Sagacious will stay 1m4f, no problem at all.

    If you look at the line of stallions contributing, you have Dalakhani, Sadler’s Wells, Ajdal, Troy and Mill Reef. The only dodgy one of those is Ajdal.

    Sagacious could be anything. Really a waste of time asking questions about her constantly. The Oaks is the hardest Classic to get the winner of pre-March so any firm predictions are extremely unlikely to come to fruition.

    Reason i asked Gerald about his breeding was someone asked if she stay 1m4.I do hope she does well this year.

    Surely the most interesting of the Godolphin 3yo’s is Passion for Gold who ran very well behind St.N.A. at the Curragh.And won very emphatically in France later on in the year.Is he a Derby prospect or a Guineas horse?

    I’m not sure if there is someone who is confident enough to pinpoint the Godolphin horses that will be

    a) 2000 Guineas
    b) Derby
    c) Kentucky Derby
    d) Injured.

    Hopefully, Kingsfort will be a) and not d).

    I suppose I left out

    e) not really good enough.

    I think there is a doubt about Passion For Gold staying the Derby trip, which is a good thing, as there seems to be a saying that if there isn’t a doubt, then the horse won’t win the Derby.

    Gerald,

    I think Godolphin’s Derby colt could possibly be Burj Nahar. I don’t know what else they have.

    I think Passion for Gold could be an 8f-10f 3 year old so he could be their 2000 Guineas colt.

    I know I was joking when I wrote that this would be Godolphin’s year, but surely they must have bought themselves a Classic winner somewhere.

    The one I’m most intrigued about is

    Al Zir

    , because Saeed Bin Suroor is in love with him, and is the one who named him. Probably in the e) category, after the Dewhurst?

    Anyway, he’s definitely running over here, as these are the Kentucky derby entries:-

    GODOLPHIN TRIPLE CROWN NOMINATIONS 2010

    Godolphin has made eight nominations for this year’s Triple Crown races in the USA:-

    * Black Snowflake (USA)
    * Cappiwino (USA)
    * Fareej (USA)
    * Frozen Power (IRE)
    * Mendip (USA)
    * Sahara Kingdom (IRE)
    * Tahitian Warrior (USA)
    * Vale Of York (IRE)

    Simon Crisford, Godolphin’s Racing Manager said: “We have made eight entries for the 2010 Triple Crown in the US but we will not know whether Godolphin will be represented until we see how the horses perform in the UAE Derby on March 27 at Meydan."

    Godolphin enter eight for US Triple Crown
    By Nicholas Godfrey 11:44AM 7 FEB 2010

    USA: Breeders’ Cup winnerVale Of York heads a total of eight Godolphin nominations to this year’s American Triple Crown, while Ballydoyle’s sole entry is shock Dewhurst winner Beethoven.

    John Gosden has three nominations, but they do not include Pounced, who won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf in 2009.

    A total of only 17 overseas-trained horses featured among 366 early nominees for the three Triple Crown races were revealed on Saturday night.

    Connections of these first entries have paid $600, but horses can be added for a $6,000 fee at a second entry stage on March 27.

    The Godolphin team also includes recent purchase Tahitian Warrior, an impressive winner at Gulfstream Park last month, plus Fareej, Mendip and Sahara Kingdom, all of whom were unbeaten at a low level as two-year-olds.

    Gosden’s possibles are headed by the highly rated Prizefighting, while Dermot Weld has five entries.

    "Our nomination total is down a bit, but the 366 horses on the roster of nominees represent as deep a field of quality prospects as we’ve seen over the years," said Churchill Downs seniot vice-preisdent Donnie Richardson.

    This year’s Triple Crown beginswith the Kentucky Derby on May 1 followed by the Preakness at Pimlico on May 15 and the Belmont on June 5.

    US-based nominations are headed by the Eclipse Award-winning pair Lookin At Lucky and She Be Wild.

    Todd Pletcher, still looking for his first Kentucky Derby victory, has the most nominations with 20, one more than D Wayne Lukas.

    Among owners, WinStar Farms are in a strong position at this stage with leading Kentucky contenders Super Saver, American Lion, Rule and Drosselmeyer among their team.
