He’s got one filly called Kiss For A Jewel out of Sapphire trained by Dermot Weld and has an early entry in the Moyglare G1 as well as Pursuit Of Magic out of Three Mysteries trained by Harrington entered in the same race

Legends Of War is 9/4 behind Advertise on 7/4 now that Sergei Prokofiev is out of the July Stakes.

It comes down to potential versus form on the board.

I just have a feeling that Calyx will prove to have had more in hand than the bear Coventry result because of the draw factor.

    —————————————————————————————————–

Other Kingman progeny I have made a note of are:-

SOVEREIGN GRANT a colt out of Nayef mare Momentary

Owned by The Queen, Sovereign Grant is trained by Michael Stoute and has an entry in next year’s Epsom Derby. Probably a longer term prospect but interesting to look out for.

PRIVATE SECRETARY is out of the Darshaan mare Intrigued and she is best known for the stayer No Heretic and Michelangelo who was 3rd in Camelot’s St Leger. Like Michelangelo, Private Secretary is trained by John Gosden and as such will attract interest on debut after the trainer has made such a good start with Kingman offspring.

There is an unnamed colt by Kingman out of Cubanita and he is in training with Simon Crisford. This colt interests me because I liked the mare. Cubanita beat Noble Mission in the old John Porter for trainer Ralph Beckett and Kingman’s Derby entered son is her first foal.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Form horse wins it easily as Legends Of War flops completely.

The Gosden horse has gone backwards from his debut and obviously has a big question mark about him now. The trainer had said the son of Scat Daddy had a good turn of foot and would be ridden to use it but his effort was very short lived indeed.

Advertise has advertised the Coventry form and I would make Calyx a 5/1 shot for the Guineas given the O’Brien dearth of quality outside of Sergei Prokofiev.

Van Beethoven was bitterly disappointing today and I thought it was an awful renewal of the Railway that he won in no more than workmanlike fashion previously. Today they set the pace for Van Beethoven to aim at but he buckled like a concertina in trying to chase it. Jason Weaver waffled on about Van Beethoven franking Royal Ascot form in winning the Railway Stakes but he was odds on for that race and beat a horse rated 88 coming into it by half a length. Runner up in that race, Marie’s Diamond, was put up by 14 lbs by the Racing Post for that run but it looks yet another numb nuts lazy piece of assessing by the Racing Post. These people cannot seem to accept that sometimes a Group 2 race can be a sticky turd of a race in reality.

Calyx is as short as 4/1 for the Guineas now and will go shorter if Sergei Prokofiev gets beaten in the Superlative. Having hummed and hawed about going 5F or 6F at Royal Ascot, they haven’t hung about in putting him up to 7F now.

Advertise is as low as 10/1 for the Guineas and that is way low to my eyes. His two biggest opponents today on paper both ran like drains and outsiders were in the mix. I’d lay him at 10s ad infinitum.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Legends Of War reportedly had a setback that kept him out of Ascot so may yet be a good reason for today’s flop, Steve. Didn’t seem to move with much fluency either.

It was only bad bloods that kept him back (and Calyx being the better hoss I suspect).

I did point out on the day, when people were bouncing the walls about him, that Gosden’s had previous with horses at Yarmouth looking the next Frankel + not necessarily backing that up. Don’t know much about the track but can it produce exaggerated results?

I didn’t see enough to back Legends Of War for the Guineas or anything but expected he would prove better than he showed today. Has to be said he has plenty to prove now.

Pursuit Of Magic ran at Leopardstown this evening but showed very little, beaten a long way in 4th behind Aidan O’Brien’s Camelot filly Goddess who was making her second start.

Goddess absolutely dotted up tonight, making all before readily clearing away to win by TEN lengths. On her previous start she was well behind Peach Tree, who I mentioned earlier in the thread.

This was Goddess’s win and it’s pretty hard to fault that performance, although the winning margin would suggest that she hasn’t beaten much there. If any of the others are much cop, surely Goddess is group quality already.

Nowhere did I say I backed Legends Of War for the Guineas. It was all supposition of what would have happened if he had won the Coventry and what odds he might be for the Classic had that transpired.

Show me where I said I had backed him for the 2000 Guineas?

This is pretty pathetic carry on, crawling onto the only thread I am posting on now to accuse me of being a liar.

Is it Aspergers Syndrome you suffer from Ginger?

I believe the 90 is what Steve rated the horse Ginge at the time
I had a couple of pound on Legends Of War but have more on Calyx at 20’s and William Hill boost at 22’s. At those prices you can afford to get a few wrong especially at this early stage and level of my staking.
Had a couple of quid on Goddess after her win today at 20’s, she got beat debut but trainer and pedigree you can almost write off anything she achieves as a two year, should make a better 3 y/o and the season is moving along.

Oh do practise what you preach dear Ginger
When the Grand National comes around you will have delight in telling everyone that you backed the 100/1 winner x amount of years ago without telling them the countless other runners you also backed in the race effectively knocking the overall price down to whatever it is.
