I would love to see Christmas show improvement today, but I just cannot be confident about him now.
October 14, 2018 at 14:45 #1377325Good to see Mick Channon with a really nice two year old, Chairmanoftheboard winning at Goodwood.
Value Is EverythingOctober 15, 2018 at 12:17 #1377424Persian King ran to an RPR of 113 on Saturday. Wasn’t flashy by any means, and Magna Grecia ran very well in defeat here on his 2nd start. He seems a very leggy tall and thin horse to me on pictures (Persian King)..
Perhaps one to progree with a Winter…but wouldn’t appeal to me for a guinease right now.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!October 16, 2018 at 11:19 #1377524Jack any views on NORWAY did well to win last 2fo out and did well to win and looks leger type but could get a place in derby
October 16, 2018 at 12:06 #1377528Trip any views on 2yo races at Newmarket not just group races and listed race Norway won but novice races as well
October 16, 2018 at 14:02 #1377531Darren- he was impressive but probably was suited to being covered up with the strong headwind. Interesting Seamie said he thinks he could be better than his bro Ruler of the World. I think Sydney Opera House didn’t get a perfect run of the race and is better than that, and Waldstern had ground concerns so can be forgiven the poor run.
Could be anything Darren and i can see the Leger view going by Kew Gardens

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!October 21, 2018 at 18:20 #1378317RAKAN won maiden well like a smart colt and Weld expect him take in derby trail next for him next year.Any views on him or other 2yos last few weeks
October 21, 2018 at 18:30 #1378319Rakan has a lovely pedigree alright and won nicely enough. He goes into my tracker DW as i missed the race but have now caught up on it…The Coolmore colt was also eye-catching!
Nothing else has stood out from me 2yo-wise in the past week or two! I suppose Metratron looked decent at Wolverhampton, but the form might be questionable. Worth watching anyhow.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!October 22, 2018 at 00:16 #1378339So sorry Darren I’ve only just seen your message, I still can’t get used to this Thread being here.. apologies
As Jack mentioned the strong headwind at Newmarket over the two days made it difficult for a lot of horses who either coped with it or didn’t so I’m not too sure if these were true run races. For me Sydney Opera House is the one to take out of that race won by Norway, he was short of room having to be switched and still not getting a clear run. Norway ran a really good race but conditions were against all runners so hard to call.
One thing is certain Too Darn Hot is an absolute machine with an electrifying turn of foot which he produced at the most difficult part of the race from the dip and onwards to the post what a star.
Again Persian King looked very well in the pre parade but his coat was losing its lustre and he did the business but made it look harder than it was.
100% certain that he will train on into 2019 and win some Classics, completely different style from TDH so it’s going to be interesting. From the Friday meeting I was really impressed with O’Brien’s Sergei Prokofiev and how he quickened up the hill to win comfortably from Well Done Fox both horses clear of the third. I’m not usually a follower of O’Brien’s horses but this boy is on my list for next season.
Finally just three fillies to keep a sharp eye on next season Mot Juste (Distorted Humor) winner of the Oh So Sharp Stakes trained by Roger Varian.
My best 2yo filly from the meeting is
Queen Power (Sharmadal)trained by Ralph Beckett, who won a competitive 12 runner Maiden in impressive style first time out, running green in the early stages but found her feet to run on up the hill and beat a good 2yo trained by John Gosden Duneflower(Dubawi) by a length and a half.Let’s hope we can see some of these blossom next season Darren and once again sorry to be so late responding…Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...October 23, 2018 at 23:25 #1378513Very good 2yo Godolphin horse running in the 1.20 at Deauville tomorrow Darren
ART DU VAL
Deauville 1.20Very lightly raced, one run one win and very highly thought of by No Nay Never, I think he could be better than Al Hilalee.
Tomorrow will tell..worth a small wager…JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...October 25, 2018 at 12:08 #1378611Trip were you at Newmarket for all those 2yos races yesterday any you like there i think RAINBOW HEART might be one keep a eye on intrest me for oaks
October 25, 2018 at 14:48 #1378626Hi Darren…I wasn’t able to be there yesterday but I was there when Rainbow Heart ran 3rd to Qabala (Scat Daddy)and Desirous(Kingman) both top 2yo fillies to be and I know that both are very highly thought of. They both pulled away from Rainbow Heart at the finish by two and a half lengths. Desirous has since gone on to win but like Rainbow Heart yesterday she dropped back to a Class 5 to achieve this…I think all three fillies are worth putting in our notebook for next season and Rainbow Heart already looks like a 3 year old as noted the last time I saw her and her win yesterday confirms she is moving in the right direction..
Will be there for the last two days next week so hopefully see some more hopeful 2yo’s and report back…JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...October 25, 2018 at 16:30 #1378633Sadly ART DU VAL found a better horse in Dukes of Hazzard at Deauville yesterday 😢 but prepared to give him another chance back on home soil and after a winter in Dubai
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...November 4, 2018 at 19:34 #1379721One for the Notebook for next season, 1000 Guineas or Oaks Filly
Won her maiden by 6 lengths absolutely blew them away at Newmarket yesterday, and her name is….FELICIANA DE VEGA (Lope de Vega)
Lovely looking 2yo filly who looks like a 3yo colt.
heavily backed at the last minute, but luckily I got 13/8 before she went odds on.Trained by Ralph Beckett and bred as a distance horse, I think she’ll be getting black type pretty early on when her career sets off for real next season. Jac
