I like Gosden 2yo who won at Sandown owned by Coolmoore
Christopherlowe. What you think of horse steve. And other 3 mention

I think you mean Christophermarlowe Darren.

Any John Gosden 2yo running and winning like that at this time of the year would be expected to be a good middle distance contender for next year. The trouble with this horse for me is I don’t know a lot about the sire

    Tapit

    .

Googling Tapit’s stats as a sire shows he has had 30 group winners but they seem to be USA runners and I would be wary of how this horse will progress in Europe. Maybe they are looking to train him in Britain and perhaps head to the Kentucky Derby with him if he’s good enough. I know Michael Tabor said the Kentucky Derby was one of his favourite races when he was asked on TV this summer.

He looks an oddball as one of Coolmore’s with John Gosden and I would be cautious for that reason.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Sir Isaac Newton is entered in a Newmarket Maiden on Friday over 7f. He also holds an entry in the Tattersalls 500,000 race the following Saturday but that would be a tough debut surely?

He then holds entries for The Dewhurst and Racing Post Trophy so if he is going to take up one of those group 1 entries you would imagine he would need to run somewhere else first to have a realistic chance.

Logically, if we are to see him this year you would think he would start in maiden company and depending how he gets on there, then the next stop would be the Racing Post Trophy. The Coolmore boys have a strong enough hand in the Dewhurst already with Gleneagles and John F Kennedy so the longer trip at Doncaster would seem a better option for the horse who hasn’t seen a racecourse yet. Ol’ Man River holds an entry for The Royal Lodge this week and if he is successful it would seem likely he would then go to Doncaster with, or instead of, sir Isaac Newton depending how they both perform.

Even by their standards there is a strong Coolmore stranglehold on the betting for the Classics and they seem to have the knack of getting wins into their horses who should really be more about next season than this. If you compare that to Sir Michael Stoute, for example, you get the feeling his stable would be better suited to the Classics being for

    four

    year old horses.

"If Sir Isaac Newton is to win by further, it will be by standing on the withers of giants"

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Sir Isaac Newton I think has had a niggly injury as I’m sure he was down to run at the curragh but never lined up. Should be interesting when he does eventually run.

Sir Isaac Newton isn’t lining up in the Newmarket maiden he was entered in. Time seems to be running out for him to fit a maiden

    and

a higher level race in this year.

Ol’ Man River seems to be staying at home for his next race but is said to be dependent on the going as to whether he runs. They are leaving it late to see if the Royal Lodge may be the alternative for him. I hope he runs in the latter race as it looks a bit thin on quality. Berkshire won last season’s renewal and set a few tongues wagging about the Classics but it never panned out for him.

Ol’ Man River stays at home after bypassing a Royal Lodge that looked to be fought out between a couple of dour stayers yesterday.

Ol’ Man River travelled really well on his debut and looked likely to prevail by more than the final winning margin. The runner up that day was no great shakes on his next start but most of O’Brien’s good two year olds this season have needed their first run, so winning on his debut was very encouraging.

My two for the Derby at the moment are Highland Reel and Ol’ Man River but it could be just as possible I am on the 5th and 6th best in this season’s Coolmore crop of juvenile colts. We will know more today and there has been good support for the expensive son of Montjeu and Finscial Beo. 6/4 was the first show and he was evens in the small hours of the morning, however 1/2 is the general price as I write, with 2nd fav Tombelaine sitting at 3/1. The latter horse is as sound a yardstick as was ever put up in a race, having beaten Highland Reel first time, before finishing 2nd to Gleneagles and then being beaten further in the same spot behind John F Kennedy.

Whatever happens today, Aiden O’Brien cannot say they didn’t have an idea where they stood with the Dermot Weld horse!

Well, the 6/4 Ol’ Man River was like finding money lying in the street. Racebets go 14/1 for the Derby but I doubt that will last long. Generally 10/1 and as low as 8/1, he looks a straight-forward horse who could handle Epsom and come with a run to mow them down.

It’s a long way off but I am struggling to find a negative about him at this stage and Joseph reckons the horse could drop back to 7f without a problem.

    Aiden has just said

    twice

that the horse "has a load of speed" and that he could run in the Dewhurst, The Racing Post Trophy

    or

not have another race this year. He elaborated thus:-

"If the lads want him to have another race this year, he will, if they don’t, he won’t"

That clears the waters marvellously for those of us wondering!

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Ol man river looks to me to be the most exciting 2yo this season. He won very easily and looks to have huge amounts of scope. JFK also looks a tremendous prospect and reminds me of high chaparral in his 2yo days. Gleneagles is running at longchamp next weekend. He looks more forward than the other obrien 2yos and looks guineas material. That leaves highland reel to place. A nice quandary for aiden to have.

My only hope for SIR ISAAC NEWTON is he comes out in maiden won by CENTURY last year or race at Navan where RECITAL and Kingbarns won hope he out soon.

Any thoughts on maiden winners at Newmarket not sure who they beat but CONSORT,LADY CORROSPONDET look decent prospects

Also Gosden 2yo won at Epsom be intresting where they go next with Coolmoore owned horse.

Limato won the 2yo trophy at Redcar today without ever really coming off the bridle. Of course he was entitled to win that but it’s rare to see a jockey swinging along like that in a sprint. He’s not in the Middle Park yet but surely they must be thinking about supplementing him. An interesting prospect.

Limato vs Ivawood at 6 furlongs. That’d be a match to savour.

Unlikely to happen sadly. Henry Candy feels it is best to put him away for the season with the ground likely to be softer now.

Limato was cut into 16/1 for the 2000 Guineas but he looks a sprinter and the trainer says his main target will be the new 3yo Group 1 sprint at Royal Ascot, so I’d advise against a bet for Newmarket.

That new race got a few pelters about how much use it would be but we look to have something to look forward to running in it in its first incarnation in the form of Limato.

Limato is a gelding, which I think rules him out of the Middle Park as well as the Classics next year

Convey tonight at Kempton for Sir Michael Stoute.

Very impressive and looks to have everything about him to be a serious talent.

Only Stoutes 2nd first time out 2yo winner this term also.

Well spotted. Both races are only for colts, so that’s a pretty good reason to avoid the 16/1 for the 2000 Guineas.

I have stuffed more money on Ol’ Man River at 16/1 for the 2000 Guineas, as I can’t see the logic in John Gosden’s Faydhan being half those odds when you consider all the factors. One nod from Aiden and the 16/1 will vanish.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

The horse who finished third had run in a couple of races that have thrown up a good few winners. I would imagine Hannon’s horse will be nursery bound now. That gives the form a little bit of substance but it’s early days.

The winner could be very useful next year but I find it astounding that he is the same odds as Ol’ Man River, at 16/1, for next years Guineas on the back of a three grand maiden win on the all weather even if he did win five lengths. When you consider the other horse has hosed up in a Group 2 at the Curragh and has arguably the most powerful team in the world behind him and is bred out of two terrific horses, you have to question why they are deemed to hold the same chance of landing the 2000 Guineas.

Which one would you back if your life depended on it?

    Crazy price for my money.

I thought the way found won the boussac was mightily impressive and she looks like a good bet for the guineas. Hard to fathom the colts as I’m not sure even aiden knows whose his best and there seems to horses at around 20s who have won a maiden and who really are just dark horses. Of the colts JFK looks a real class act but I doubt will go for the guineas. Hopefully after the dewhurst ,racing post trophy etc we will have a better idea. Found for the 1000 guineas would be my best idea of a classic winner.
