Time To Get Up is only 20’s just now, I can’t see that shortening too much, so I’ll risk leaving him just now.
January Jets the other one I’ll definitely be watching out for.
Decided to bet the other pair though.
Escaria Ten 66’s
Galvin 33’sApril 12, 2021 at 19:32 #1536064FARCLAS 60/1 Enhanced price at Ladbrokes
Ran well a young horse only 7 and no doubt this was a sighter for next year when he be 8 that age bracket been doing well in recent years and this be the race where season will revolving around.
Any views guys
April 12, 2021 at 22:31 #1536092Yeah Darren, love Farclas, smashing horse. On my radar all season, but managed to go whole season without betting him.
I worry about becoming a bit of a “bridesmaid” horse, and I always prefer a horse who hasn’t ran in the race before, but other than that, no reason why Farclas can’t go close again.
Although I like a couple of his stablemates for The Cross Country, I can see him maybe going that route himself, and I thought the 16’s huge. Currently considering that myself.
April 12, 2021 at 22:36 #1536094Farclas had a very low weight, yet despite this the jockey said he didn’t stay. I can’t see him winning it.
April 12, 2021 at 22:40 #1536095My 2 early picks are…
Any Second Now 22-1 – I think he may have won with a clear round, so gone in again.
Galvin 35-1 – done me a good turn at Cheltenham, so wont deserve him at this point. Will have had the 10+ chase starts by race time as well.April 12, 2021 at 23:16 #1536100Mike with Farclas i know jock say not stay but 7yos have bad records in race. be stronger and yes more weight to carry but be trained for this race. Unlike this year where doubt at start of season this not a target I think could go closer next year
April 12, 2021 at 23:20 #1536101Considering Farclas was “well in” this year – handicapped on form before his second at Cheltenham… imo Should’ve done better if he truly stayed. He and Burrows Saint both lost a lot of ground in the straight, Farclas beaten over 29 lengths. Has scope to improve further and win good races but imo not a Grand National horse.
Despite Burrows Saint being an Irish Grand National winner either appeared not to stay after travelling well for a long way… Or just doesn’t find much off the bridle. Whichever it is, imo is not the type to win an Aintree National.
Value Is EverythingApril 13, 2021 at 00:27 #1536110Farclas ran really well on Saturday and I think there could still be some improvement to come. However, this will no doubt be offset by him being higher in the weights, and I have a suspicion that if he didn’t win on Saturday he’s unlikely to next year.
The last horse to win the National after failing to win it in a prior attempt was Mon Mome back in 2009, so recent trends are also against Farclas in this respect. I certainly wouldn’t rule out another bold showing from him, but he doesn’t fit the profile of a modern National winner.
April 13, 2021 at 07:52 #1536125Added Escaria Ten 66-1
April 13, 2021 at 19:20 #1536261Any Second Now definitely the one to take out of the race. Lost a good 15 lengths I think after getting caught up in avoiding Double Shuffle. Impressed me to work back to finish 3rd like that.
However, that said, am not sure he’s one for the same race next year. The handicapper will have seen what we’ve all seen any race returnees don’t do well do they.
Will be interested to see future entries next season.
While I’m here I’m also another that likes the look of Galvin, Escaria Ten, and RWF for this next year.
No idea why, but I’m less keen on Next Destination. Maybe it’s the English trainer thing or maybe I think he’s a little Discoramaesque…
April 13, 2021 at 19:52 #1536266A good blow by blow account of Burrows Saint run this year from the saddle Gingertipster. Think you would struggle to think it wins next year reading this.
April 13, 2021 at 19:54 #1536267Frankiemac, Grand National winners usually have about 10 chase starts by race time. Next Destination will have to be busy next season to get to that. Worth backing others as well if anyone likes him.
April 16, 2021 at 12:50 #1536741Latest Exhibition, Next Destination, and Coko Beach would be my three just now.
I think I’ll have another look during the summer, and come down on one. I’ll leave it just now.
September 16, 2021 at 12:07 #1560651Couldn’t find anything to put my paddy free bet on
So added
Galvin 25s
Next Destination 33sSeptember 27, 2021 at 18:38 #1561679Long way to go and he will need to rise in the weights but I’ve had an antepost poke at mister fogpatches- at 66s
Good 3rd in the Scottish national last yr. Versatile ground wise and the trainer has proven himself adept at getting one in at the right end of competitive handicaps.
October 12, 2021 at 20:41 #1563140Galvin is well thought of, I know it’s very very early days but I have him in my notes
Vf x
October 12, 2021 at 21:59 #1563145Plenty of people have Galvin down as a national type , my concern with him is he isn’t the best of jumpers , to be honest I’d go go with next destination to reverse the form with him
