Greenasgrass, I’m wanting to add Class Conti as well, but if Chris’s Dream runs, I’m scared to miss out on him, so I have to make him my third choice.

I’m only going to bet him if he runs. If not, I’ll go with Class Conti too.

    Farclas @ 33/1 NRNB BOG

Jack booked to ride and 6 lbs better off in the National as opposed to the Topham. All sorted now, i think.

    Canelo 33s
    Some Neck 66 e/w
    Takingrisks 40s

If Some Neck doesn’t make the cut or if Canelo swerves this for the Scottish National i will add Mister Malarky who will either outrun his odds of 40/1 or be pulled up before half way.

Farclas still in the Topham which is where he should go. I might back him in that.

Edit: Just seen an article on RP he goes for National instead. Wasted opportunity. I am convinced he wont stay 4 miles 2.

It’s a pleasant surprise for me to see Farclas head here.

I’m still looking for one more, as I’m not happy with my Ok Corral bet, but I’ll mull it over, over the next few days.

    Farclas 33-1
    Ok Corral 33-1
    Minella Times 50-1

I’ve bet Minella Times myself, though it’s only at 16-1. The other I’ve bet is Bristol De Mai. He’s one of my favourite jumpers, and as much as I’m not wholly convinced by the choice of this race for him, I could not let him run without a few pounds on.

The Welsh National winner unlikely to get in. Sigh.

But hey, we’ll have a couple of past-it Gigginstown runners making up the numbers based on their handicap marks from two years ago, so there’s that, eh? Oh the romance. Can only presume the O’Learys think that ADO is only 8 lbs below Tiger Roll, so maybe he’s not so past-it afterall

On a serious note, why are the weights published so early? Surely wait until after Cheltenham at least. I can’t see what the benefit of weights so early, is.

Minella Times is likely to be my selection, fwiw.

A few I like for this – Burrows Saint, Any Second Now, Cloth Cap, Farclas – but the one that stands out at the price is Takingrisks, who reserves his best for decent ground and galloping tracks, and whose 4L defeat of Cloth Cap in the 2019 Scottish National reads pretty well. Both have improved since, but Takingrisks is currently ten times the price.

Looks like The Storyteller is the only runner not declared.

I hope any others non-runners are declared prior to 1pm tomorrow – would like to see the Welsh Nash winner get in, would be a shame if a couple were ruled out after that.

Nrnb on Secret Reprieve so ok. Shame though, as I would’ve liked to see how he got on.

Just the 5 horses to concentrate on now. :-)

Still a chance Mike, couple could come out if the race times are quick today. Although that wouldn’t particularly suit Secret Reprieve either tbf.

Having just watched road to Aintree and seeing the head on of the bobby jo and burrows saint lugging to his right i now think he has little to no chance of winning

Will have to dig through and find a couple more

I have calculated my figures for the race, having had to fudge a a bit to cover non-handicap form, but happy with the top ratings.

    Any Second Now 184
    Farclas 181
    Yala Enki 180
    Kimberlite Candy 179

    Vieux Lion Rouge 177
    Give Me A Copper 177
    Double Shuffle 177
    Shattered Love 176

Favourite Cloth Cap 170 has a bit to find on my figures, and I had to fiddle a bit to get him that high(!), but is a big improver although price is very short.

More than happy with the top ratings and I’ll take top four rated against the field. All have form in big fields and jumping is very sound. Form is sound enough and I’m not going to tie myself in knots over some of the detail, rather let the figures guide me. Nice spread of prices between 11/1 and 40/1 at time of writing.

Interesting Rob. You think Farclas has a fair chance of staying?

Of the top four I think Farclas’s staying ability is the one thing that concerns me. He saw out 3 miles in a big field at Leopardstown, so big field quick pace is not a problem. Form is solid so happy to trust the stable on this one and the doubt is covered in the price, if he was a proven stayer he’s be a single figure price.
