Very informative – thanks Joe. Fingers crossed it can be dealt with but at this stage of his career it’s far from ideal. As you say, the bleeding would address the distress and odd head carriage we saw at Haydock too.
Very good performance by Clan des Obeaux today, I didn’t expect that. Yet, the Gold Cup is something different. Native River was badly outpaced from the start, surely he will need at least a bit of cut in the ground at Cheltenham to really stand a chance again. Might Bite seems done, Politologue will surely go to the Ryanair. Thislecrack ran fine, but I think he is past his best. Bristol de Mai riddle didn’t get solved today and no idea where they will go with Waiting Patiently.
I think either Road to Respect or Presting Percy will be the big favourite at the end of the year.
On Racing Post Ratings, Presenting Percy already needs to find 6lbs on Clan Des Obeaux just to match yesterday’s performance and that would have been more if Clan Des Obeaux had not winged the last as he’d probably have won on the bridle. Presenting Percy is a year older, too. Clan Des Obeaux almost certainly has bags more improvement in him and, barring accidents, should win the Gold Cup.
I hope ROAD TO RESPECT wins savils chase as on him but hope my gold cup horse runs well tomorrow without win that is SHATTERED LOVE

others have caught up and passed him now.
PP lacks experience having had just 5 chase starts and is likely to only have 1 run over fences prior to the gold cup. The preparation hasn’t gone to plan for this horse as they keep wanting to run him but keep on missing out on the ground so pull him out. Could not back this horse with counterfeit and he will prove a massive disappointment when they eventually do wheel him out on track.Yesterday’s horse who peaked as a novice and was an early developer.
My boy will toy with him if in fact he even makes it to the gold cup.
Racing Post ratings are so inaccurate a lot of the time. I look at them prerace and smile when I see no hopers at odds of 33-1 or bigger at the top who predictably do bugger all in the race. Will stick with Official Ratings which had Percy 5lbs ahead of Clan before the King George.
So will see what Percy can do post King George if he ever turns up.
If Road To Respect flops against this motley crew in the lexus today I am contacting Paddy Power and will ask them if they fancy paying out early on Elegant Escape to win the gold cup as a promotional exercise for them.
Might Bite and Native River both left there hearts in last years gold cup, Presenting Percy was just an early peaker so if RTR flops the 2019 gold cup wont even be a race it will be a training exercise for the Legendary Great One Elegant Escape.
So the 1st gold cup now appears a formality.
The team were expecting Samcro to turn up for the 2020 and 2021 editions but that looks unlikely now so even the 2nd gold cup looks in the bag already.
Hard to talk at this stage about EEs 3rd and 4th title as we dont know what will emerge as of yet.First 2 appear a formality now
Kemboy has only been outside the top 2 twicee in 8 chases.
One when he fell at fairy house and then when unplaced in last years festival in the JLT.
He was also unplaced in the novice hurdle at the previous years cheltenham festival.
Both times at Cheltenham festival was unplaced and made no impression up the hill.
Looked good today at leopardstown but not a hope of out battling the legend that is Elegant Escape up that Cheltenham hill in March.
The gold cup is looking no more than a Colin Tizzard training exercise now.
Tugboat River and Thistle Cack to beat just one shake of the reins and Elegant Escape leaves them behind.
You would think that Road to Respect may have got closer if not for that mistake. Dont think Shattetred Love is gonna be a Gold Cup contender at all.

An issue with backing Road To Respect, which I’ve mentioned before, is the jockey.

kemboy- Not considered for very good reason prior to that atrocious version of the lexus chase.
What was the 2018 lexus race? It was absolute non event of a race ran at a crawl for most of it and won by the horse who dictated the pace.
The form is meaningless absolutely worthless and not worth the paper it is written on.

Some dafty who peaked as a novice, these types almost never hit the big time, a season so disrupted it makes the london bus schedule seem like clockwork. A season that in fact is yet to have even started yet.omg the Irish cannot win 5his race. Open your eyes daftys the winner is staring you in the face.
