Bachasson taken out of The Ryanair today. He holds an entry in The Red Mills on Saturday, but he’ll surely take up his option in The Boyne Hurdle. I haven’t actually bet him yet, well I did promise myself that I would cheer on Paisley, but that 16’s NRNB is testing my resolve.
February 14, 2019 at 10:14 #1397375VTC, if he can confirm form with Darasso, i’d say he’s a good bet. Darasso is on my watchlist, he travelled lovely in the Presenting Percy race, but i don’t think he stayed the 3 miles. So he wouldn’t be for this, but over 2m5, i wouldn’t be surprised to see him push Bachasson.
If Bachasson wins nicely 16s will be no longer!! He’d go close to Faugheen in the market i suspect. But might be a slight drifter on the day? Penhill and Faugheen likely to be first two jockey picks?

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!February 20, 2019 at 12:40 #1398357Faugheen 12/1 e/w
Good update today from Mullins, looking good in his coat in press photos and think he’s the overpriced one. Only time he’s ever been beat over 3 miles was LTO when he fell.
Wouldn’t have beaten AJ for me, but second to the great mare would still be good enough to win this.Only niggle i have is that he may prefer going right handed these days, two great performances in the last 12 months both at Punchestown, but at the price i’m happy to find out.
February 20, 2019 at 13:11 #1398361I’m with you on this one Kev. Would love to see him come back and win this, place would meltdown if he was powering up the hill at the end!
Be interesting to see who would ride him, Townend was on Penhill last year at both Cheltenham and Punchestown(Ruby Injured) and would still be surprised if Ruby wasn’t on Faugheen. Ruby riding a multiple festival winner round Cheltenham at a double figure price will do for me.
I’m actually getting excited at the prospect of Faugheen doing a Sprinter Sacre and winning one last time at the Festival!
February 20, 2019 at 13:17 #1398362On Faugheen at 9/1 each way NRNB with Paddy Power; happy with that. Ruby will be on Faugheen; Townend will be on Penhill
February 20, 2019 at 14:19 #1398368I’m also in the Faugheen camp and am on at 12’s e/w.
Couldn’t have him at all last year in the champ, but that 3m Punchestown performance in April was absolutely top drawer.
Paisley Park obviously the most likely winner, but all the signs are that the machine may still be firing.
Glad to see a few others also agree.
February 20, 2019 at 15:39 #1398379Don’t rate Emma Lavelle at tracks other than Doncaster. Paisley Park is a good price on form but given the tendency of many of the yard’s horses to run stinkers, I have to leave him alone. Have no idea what I might do in this race, if Pallasator turns up I could chance him eachway. Also like Black Op but he’d need to improve from his last effort which was, at least, a step in the right direction. Kilbricken Storm probably has some of the best form here but he had 2 hard races last spring, wonder whether fences might not be the only cause for his below par performances this season.
February 27, 2019 at 15:55 #1399195Penhill out
February 27, 2019 at 16:51 #1399206This race has cut up a bit and still doubts about some….will Samcro be ready, no Apples Jade etc, now Penhill out. Paisley Park aside, Faugheen strolls this surely?
I still doubt what Paisley Park has beaten, although don’t doubt the manner of his last victory. But Faugheen was still on the bridle against Apples Jade before coming down, and in all honesty, is there really a consistent grade 1 animal in there in comparison to AJ and Faugheen?March 1, 2019 at 23:55 #1399452He’s far from set in stone to run in this, but De Bromhead has said he’d like to run Petit Mouchoir here, though a lot will depend on O’Leary’s.
The step up in trip seemed to benefit Identity Thief for him last year, so I’m happy that he sees something similar in Petit Mouchoir.
Always liked the horse, and I’m sure they’ve not been 100% sure on what to do with him the last couple of years, so I like the idea of him trying this trip.
Not one to go overboard on right now, as Paisley Park looks so strong, but even without NRNB, I’m happy to take a chance. Should he line up, he’ll be a fraction.

March 2, 2019 at 14:19 #1399529Not sure what I’m missing but West Approach makes huge appeal at 33/1 each-way. Typically late blooming Westerner half brother to Thistlecrack, second best staying hurdler in the UK in the form of his life. Half of those ahead of him in the market either won’t run or are in the wrong race if they do and the rest aren’t patently superior. My biggest concern would be that he’s never performed at the festival itself but he does go at the track and he rates far higher than a 15% chance to sneak into the first three.
March 2, 2019 at 20:04 #1399563I’ve been following West Approach since his first run. No questioning his talent but they haven’t found the key to him yet. He looks to need a specific set of circumstances and if they ever fall his way he’ll win something big. At the price, as BH says, it’s well worth taking the chance this will be it.
March 3, 2019 at 16:35 #1399622Petit Mouchoir is a real cliff horse for me. I’d sink into total despair if he won and I hadn’t backed him.
March 3, 2019 at 23:01 #1399654He’s worth a go at the price Moe. Certainly not confirmed yet, but I’ve just got a feeling that they’ll confirm him soon for it.

Just has to get over those pesky trip hazards.March 8, 2019 at 14:50 #1400203The favourite looks strong however Kilbricken Storm may be the forgotten horse if there’s dig in the ground. Remember the Albert Bartlett?
March 8, 2019 at 17:06 #1400216A horse named after Prince’s big house , hmm !
Yes , Paisley Park to sluice up .
Tenacious to a fault , and brave with it
