No mud slinging. Just think you’ve quoted me giving it the big one massively prematurely.

It’s not like I said Faugheen will turn up and win. I said if he turns up he would win. But he won’t be running.

If they both ran at Cheltenham and BD beat him, I’d expect to get plenty of verbals on this thread (absolutely fair enough). But to do it in December.. ridiculous.

Completely different things – Quoting a post for context and quoting a prediction

    I’m off.

Not keen on the smugness being shown here, but it’s always going to happen in this sport – although not usually 3 months before the race.

Considering Faugheen may just be suffering from ‘a cold’ or even just bounced, I’m surprised some bookmakers appear to have taken him out of the market.

Agree re the smugness CharlesOlney. I’ve found the ‘I said you said’ attitude post race a little bit pathetic. Regardless of which camp you are in, we have potentially lost a mouth watering clash in March and that (other than Faugheens return to good health) is all that matters.

Cheltenham is nearly 3 months away. Plenty can happen between now and then, as demonstrated today. People seem to forget the hundreds of potential things that could see BVD not line up at all, yet some on here have him down as the next Istabraq and the winner of the 2018 & 2019 CH. People need to calm down

Rumors that Yorkhill will do a BD and return to hurdles to have a crack at the CH.

cannot understand the I told you so brigade, esp in this game (punting) it will come back and bite you on the bum, be humble when you are right and gracious in defeat and you wont go far wrong in life/punting

sorry about my grammar as to busy reading the sporting life in my English lessons

Happy new year everyone and lets hope we back plenty of winners

Nobody seemingly able to put their finger on what caused Faugheen to run as below par as he did. Is stable form related, an untapped injury or the fragility of the creeking horse showing through? If it goes unsolved but he remains aimed here then it kind of puts a leveller on the ‘if he runs he wins’ argument. Who knows what a good price would be?

Yorkhill hasn’t got the pace for the Champion Hurdle. There, I said it. He hasn’t got the pace for The Queen Mother, either. If he did he’d be in them.

His best trip is probably 2 and a half, unless he learns to settle. Unless he learns to settle or unless he has a sex change I think he could be heading for The Ryan Air

I guess I am a little smug because a couple months ago on here one of my reasons to lay Faugheen at 2/1 or whatever it was is that he may have fitness issues or what not.
Who doesn’t like predicting things correctly. I only post on here to try convince others to back against Faugheen, as for many months I believe he is the worst favourite for 10 years and I said that months ago.

I’m not saying BD has won yet because as you quite rightly say BD my suffer a setback himself!
But on the other hand that is literally the only way he gets beat unless he falls.

Have greened out to get my stake back as a minimum but happy to keep the profit on BD winning on the bridle

And I’m terms of I told you so etc. Happily take it if I argue the wrong cause etc. I enjoy banter on here and never take it personally. I really think it’s part of the game but if people take it to heart that’s not the intention.
I guess I’m used to it with friends in real life.

I totally get Faugheen backers and the fact some still have hope because he has a cold or whatever. To me he is a lost cause even at 25/1 I wouldn’t back him.

That’s my opinion if he still makes it to Cheltenham and even comes within 5 lengths of BD feel free to give me a pasting !

I like to be strong in my opinions. Too many people in this game sit on the fence. Media and tv are the worst for it. Not all of them but most of them like to sit on the fence about every horse going

Praying no one here starts saying Yorkhill could beat Buveur d’air.

(Preparing 300 reasons why that’s not possible)

Although there is now some good each way value here guys!!!

Jase (?), I don’t think it’s necessarily an aftertiming/I told you so issue that’s caused a problem or got peoples backs up here. I’d say, as an assumption, it’s more the fact that we’ve potentially lost a great, a true champion of our sport today and you seem more bothered about the fact you’ve got one over the Faugheen backers on a personal or financial level. For the record I’d like to point out I always said he was a dreadful ante-post price on a fragility basis (you can check my Twitter feed for proof). My only Champion Hurdle bet I have is Defi Du Seuil at 8/1 placed before I expected him to run in the Greatwood.

It’s not a matter of what’s happened, it’s how you may have handled it. Faugheen is/was a great. His demise shouldn’t be used in one-up-man-ship. If he’s gone it’s a sad day for horse racing, no matter who you’ve backed.

At this stage it’s purely speculative that Yorkhill could even end up here, so to start saying he could beat Buveur D’air would be pointless. So prayers answered :good:

It would be an interesting move if they did. Let’s see what happens

Yorkhill hasn’t got the pace for the Champion Hurdle. There, I said it.

Willie Mullins thought he was talented enough to make up into a Champion Hurdle contender and plenty of people thought the top novice hurdler should have been campaigned over hurdles last year. They made the decision to send him novice chasing with the long term aim the Gold Cup. That plan now needs to be reassessed based on the Christmas Chase. Plenty of people have long held the view (myself included) that Yorkhill will be more effective over a shorter trip, so I think to definitively say he doesn’t have the pace for the CH is definitely s statement that is up for debate :good:

To be fair my initial post after the Faugheen race was of sympathy for Faugheen and the fact the sport has lost possibly the highlight of the festival that battle.

I do care about horses but only so many times people can say it’s a shame etc. No one is directly saying they are wanted that to happen. I predicted it but didn’t necessarily want it.

I know he hasn’t retired as of now but at least we got to see him at his best even with an injury crocked career. He deserves more races under his belt but at his age he deserves to retire with dignity as I truly believe he will never be as good as he was or even 95% of the horse now.
