I’d want 10,000/1 to be backing Charlie Parcs for this. Flat horse, flat specialist. I could pick a 100 horses who would beat him in a Champion Hurdle; but then again that’s just my opinion. Would be delighted for you if he won
February 26, 2018 at 00:55 #1344026Thanks Vautour that would be smashing, but I can’t have him either, and one of the few survivors of my “book” which never really even got started this year.
February 26, 2018 at 12:41 #1344054Yorkhill likely to run here now
February 26, 2018 at 21:44 #1344140…and Wicklow brave working well and definitely running. At last some bit of intrigue to this race

Both horses at their very best would give BD a race I reckon
February 26, 2018 at 21:48 #1344142Hurricane Fly possible supplement……….Good old Willie,some things never change.
February 27, 2018 at 13:10 #1344191According to Mullins, Melon didn’t face the hood when disppointing last time. If you take that run out, he has the most solid piece of recent form of anything in the race bar the fav.
His hard-pulling third to MTOY and The New One (gave weight to MTOY) in theory makes him better than Elgin, MTOY, Ch’tibello, John Constable etc.
If he can run an efficient race (decent ground and a strong pace should help with that), then I think he’s your second place finisher. Obviously you shouldn’t be betting each-way given the shape of the race but his place-only price is more than fair.
February 28, 2018 at 11:01 #1344310This would be the right move for Yorkhill, preferred him over hurdles. He’s available a t 12/1 with Hill’s which looks generous to me for a horse that is 2 from 2 at the Festival.
March 4, 2018 at 20:35 #1344789The champion Hurdle is a easy equation for me this year the most likely winner is obviously Buveur D’are. But the way I look at the race they is only 2 top class horses that can beat him.
Faugheen if Willie can get him prime for this and get him going from the front he could take a lot of catching and could look a big price. I understand he has been disappointing but the horse loves Cheltenham.
The other is Yorkhill he always seems to perform at Cheltenham think he will be rode off a strong pace set by faugheen and them 2 against the field I think are the only 2 horses in the race that could upset the favourite
March 4, 2018 at 22:25 #1344794Some good arguments for Yorkhill here. Certainly, I want to find something to beat BDA. For a horse with such strong form, there’s something rather dull about him.
And does anyone else think that if Elliott/O’Leary had the balls they were born with, Apple’s Jade would utterly annihilate here?

So don't run, just like the others always do
March 5, 2018 at 21:01 #1344887Apples jade wouldn’t have a prayer against buvuer D’air. Honestly no chance. Yorkhill is almost as laughable proposition. He’s beaten o o seven over 2 miles hurdles 2.5 lengths. The horse was campaigned as a 3 mile chaser then a 2 mile Chase and been absolutely stuffed. Every time it runs it’s a bookies benefit because he’s the most overrated horse in training right now. Bookies must be laughing their heads off at all the people who still say well he has a bit of class and loves Cheltenham. Put him at 33/1 for this
March 7, 2018 at 22:48 #1345182For someone who rarely touches the favourite in this race; I don’t boast too bad a record in this race in recent years with Khyber Kim, Peddlers Cross, Overturn, The New One and My Tent or Yours all finding places while Rock on Ruby, Annie Power and Buveur D’air all obliged.
It’s hard to see past the favourite, really, but I actually really quite fancy Elgin at a price, especially in the ground lands on the softer side. Faugheen also simply can not be ignored at some of the odds available for him.
March 8, 2018 at 22:02 #1345342I feel there is a chance Elgin was pushed up too much for winning last time.
Having fiddled up and down between 140 and 151 he suddenly leaps to 161 for beating an exposed and somewhat disappointing sort in Ch’Tibello and a rather unknown quantity in Call Me Lord, on his 10th start over hurdles. I would tend to err that the other two simply aren’t great shakes.
I was on Call Me Lord last time but was never happy because the horse just seemed to travel like a crab. I know I wouldn’t want to be backing him in the Imperial Cup with his big weight after that last effort.
No offence to anyone who has backed or is going to back Elgin but I feel the race badly needs a winner with some vestige of class.
Excellent news for Elgin fans is that he usually wins when I haven’t backed him, so that gives him an extra 50% chance of winning.
This is getting on for last chance saloon for Yorkhill and perhaps also for Faugheen. I suspect Buveur D’air will come up the hill by a few lengths and go short for the hat-trick.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
March 10, 2018 at 09:26 #1345516It will be interesting to see what happens with Yorkhill. In his 3 mile Chase he was way too keen and jumped the first 3 like a 2 mile chaser. In his 2 mile Chase he was miles off the pace; the Champion Hurdle will be even faster. Maybe he wasn’t quite right in his 2 mile Chase. If he wins this then you have a horse that;
1. Doesn’t go right handed
2. Idles in front
3. Doesn’t like Leopardstown
4. Loves CheltenhamIts interesting that Townend picked him over Min at te DRF.

I just don’t know.
If he’s going up the hill just off the lead I’d fancy him. I think he’ll either win this or come nowhere; I can’t see anything in between
March 10, 2018 at 11:53 #1345550Certainly, I want to find something to beat BDA. For a horse with such strong form, there’s something rather dull about him.
Probably the lack of feasible opposition?
It’s not easy to look exciting when you are facing mediocre rivals.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
