Interesting to hear the things Mullins had done to sweeten up NC this year; change of scene and new workrider etc.
March 16, 2017 at 16:50 #1292772Still one of the spots of the season from you Graham, and it was a great shout. Nice consolation from Nichols Canyon for you, but I wanted to see Harry win for you. Very unlucky, but still a great shout, and a great price
March 16, 2017 at 17:56 #1292783You and me both botchy. When I saw Noel Fehily’s bottom giving him a bit off
a gee up with about 3/4 mile to go, my heart sank. I had a bad feeling about it.
I thought Nichols Canyon was the one I feared most at the start of the day,
and as I had a pile coming back on Harry, I had a decent bet on him at 12/1
(mentioned on the day 3 betting thread), but I can’t say that I’m not really
disappointed

Thanks Bobby, I suspected all was not not well from quite a long way out, I’ve never seen
him having to be bumped along. That’s racing for you, and I can’t complain as he’s done me
so well for so long. I’ll be interested to see what the plans are from here. Yes it was
a consolation with NC, I thought he might be the main danger and improve for the step up
in distance. I was due a whack back on Harry, so I managed to have a decent bet on NC as
insurance, and although I did well, I would have been painting the town red if Harry had won.
It probably doesn’t look like it from my Cheltenham Competition, but I’m actually doing relatively
well. I’m headed to Cheltenham tomorrow and hope my week can end up on a high
March 17, 2017 at 00:14 #1292872It really is unfortunate that Rawnaq missed this race since he beat both Shaneshill and Nichols Canyon last year at 3 miles. The good news is that from Mullins’ comments after the race NC will be back on American shores in a few months for the Iroquois Hurdle’s $500,000 bonus. :)

Next year Rocky !
March 17, 2017 at 08:12 #1292948Can’t help but think the most disappointed person right now is Alan King. For me, Yanworth would have won that and will be backing him to do so next year very soon.

Yes Funkmaster, good point also.
March 17, 2017 at 09:14 #1292963Thanks. I think it was clear to everyone that Yanworth was more stamina than speed and I don’t think for one minute that King wanted to go down in trip. I do wonder if Barry influenced this too but he picked Yanworth over BVD for the CH. Can’t get things right every time.
