Cheers Rocky, can’t believe the price is holding for the pair of them. Market still looks way off to me. Best of luck to you too.

No laughing here Green, I’m normally a one man Irish Cavalier fan club on here. If he turns up in the same mood as he did here last year, then he could easily make the frame. Smashing horse when he’s in the mood, and trainer targets this meeting.

He won The Charlie Hall fair and square, and though he’s been below par since, I seriously considered him myself, and if it weren’t for his entry in The Guiness Handicap Chase, I’d have taken him ahead of Outlander. As it is, trainer might just stick with Vintage Vinnie in that race, as he looks well handicapped, and my idea of the winner of that race………leaving Cavalier for here.

Good luck and wouldn’t put anyone off at 50’s.

Yeah I really liked the look of him last year. Didn’t enjoy seeing his run at Cheltenham this year- I thought with better ground than last year he might bounce back to form but he ran a shocker- jumped badly, didn’t travel a yard and looked like he was hating every minute of it. I didn’t see much of him in the Topham as he was buried an undistinguished midfield but the spruce fences didn’t seem to make him think Wow! Yeah! I love racing again! I hope there is nothing physically wrong with him and that he bounces back next season if not this week.

You’re right VtC, not declared for gold cup so presumably going for the race he won last year.

This looks like a race to enjoy without any financial interest, but the 9/1 is very appealing for Outlander. I will probably still sit it out though as I think sizing John was a good Gold Cup winner and he might just be very very hard to beat here

I’ve played Outlander 9/1. It’s a simple case of forgetting his last run and hoping the Lexus form is his true running. Coneygree will no doubt make it tough for Sizing John, but I don’t think he has it in him to win.

I am looking forward to this one, and it is a small but select field. I am struggling slightly to oppose the favourite, so from a betting angle it might just be one to sit out

Not convinced the ground will be soft enough for Coneygree (he is a more extreme case of being ground dependant than UDS) and although the clerk of the course has just been interviewed on ATR and has said they have put 5mm of water on the whole course and they have in fact been watering for the last 10 days – they are expecting the going to remain good to yiedling. If Coneygree doesn’t win, I fully expect ground conditions to be used by connections as a ready made excuse.

For his sheer consistancy I would love to see Djakadam win as I thought he was slightly unlucky at Cheltenham as any winning chance that he had went with that costly mistake two out.

Who’s ever seen Coneygree run a bad race on decent ground? In fact, I think one of his best performances to date came on gd/sft at Kempton…I don’t but into the softer the better…as long as it’s nice racing ground I wouldn’t be too concerned…it only comes from what the Bradstocks tell us…they’ve told us before he’s done sparkling bits of work at home yet Mark tells us yesterday it never works well at home…

I fancy him today though, he’s a fresh horse…a very good horse on his day and 7/1 is just too big…huge positive with Nico back on board and I believe he could win this running 10lbs below his best…

Djakadam has ran under par in this race the last two years and see no reason why he won’t again…

Sizing John is obviously the worthy favourite but Gold Cups take some getting over don’t they? Certainly wouldn’t be rushing in at evs…

Don’t think any of the others are good enough…got to keep faith so Coneygree to bounce back for me…

    Difficult race.

I’m against Coneygree with this last-ditch run at the back-end of a nightmare season smacking of desperation from the Bradstock clan. Sizing John was quite an impressive Gold Cup winner although it did not feel like an especially brilliant year with the second and third flat-out all the way.

I can’t believe I’m saying this but I’d be inclined to give Djakadam another chance. He was too keen in the Gold Cup and should enjoy the pace Coneygree and Champagne West lay on here. He’s fresher than he was at this point in previous seasons after a light campaign and might be able to put his Punchestown Festival curse to bed.

I can understand why Outlander is the wise guy’s horse but even his VERY BEST (a length win over Don Poli) needs some improvement.

    Djakadam, I guess.

Corker of a race – if only Coneygree had hit either of the last two on a stride – especially the 2nd last – I think he’d have been in there.

Race of the season, feel desperately sorry for Djakadam as that mistake at the last has cost him imho and what would have happened had Coneygree not made a mistake two out either. Winner looked the first beat turning in so all credit to him.

Lets hope they all make it back to Cheltenham and throw in Thistlecrack for good measure and that could be one of the hottest Gold Cups for many a year
